Just got my 12-35 FC yesterday. It´s the newer and brushless version with slightly shorter head. Got it in a L-box with 2x3Ah batteries and a quickcharger. It has all you described and more! Tried 6x120 (mm) screws in framing lumber without predrilling. In 2nd gear it managed to drive it about 70% of the way and in first gear all the way. Also tried with a 20mm spade drill in a 2x4 and it took 20sek compared to my 18V Makita who managed it in 15sek. Keeping in mind that the Makita is more than twice as heavy it is impressing! Just wanted to add this to your review, everything else is exactly as you stated. I don´t bother about the direction of bit release since I have booth among my tools. Thank you for a great review!

1) Me too: thank you for the good video! 2) I'm expecting my 12V kit as part of a back-order, but I have already had the 18V equivalent for some days. The latter is remarkable for having an attachment that changes the impact driver into an SDS hammer drill. 3) The "brushless motor" icon is missing from the official data sheet (in Dutch anyway), but the text does mention it, and there is this text visible on top of the device itself on the photograph on that page. We'll see...

Hi Dan, In Europe it also doesn't have brushless motor. I already have this beauty and it's one of my favourite tools. I got it already with L-Boxx. Nice review, I couldn't agree more. I see only two disadvantages. One, as you said, no brushless motor. Two, no belt hook.
@DPShopTalk
@DPShopTalk 6 жыл бұрын
I realized after I did the review that I was wrong about it having a brushless motor in Europe. Although I have seen some people do a conversion and mounting the FlexiClick interface end on a regular 12V brushless drill with success. It also then gives it the advantage of the belt hook with that conversion. Even with those shortcomings though as you said it's still a great tool.

Well for me in germany it is the same drill, same motor etc., i only got the L-Boxx version of it for myself and at work. It comes with a beltholster and the rest is also the same to your version. Nice review on this. I like these sort of all in one tools myself since I usually do light duty stuff. I have to say that I prefer that small soft case vs a hard case myself. I have a small car and it's easier to get that type of case in there than any hard case. They are also less bulky and I just don't have a lot of space at home either. I was looking for a small electric screw driver since I haven't been feeling well, I am trying to spend less time working on things for too long if I can help it. I found the ps22 which looks really nice since I was looking for something small for screws, but it's hard for me to justify the cost since I own a rockwell 3rill and it's been a great all in one tool for me. It's just heavy and not as small as I would like it which is the reason I was looking into something smaller to work in a car. Then I saw this tool you reviewed. I was cracking up because while you change all the adapters, I just change the bits and settings on mine, so you can see why I'm having a hard time justifying buying another tool. I also just wished mine was smaller, and brush-less, but it still works. One thing I wanted to ask about is on the piece that holds the hex bits. Does yours have any wobble? This is one thing mine seems to have and what drives me nuts at times, but I thought I noticed a bit of wobble on yours too.
@DPShopTalk
@DPShopTalk 6 жыл бұрын
+myshots101 I have noticed a little bit of wobble on the hex sleeve of the offset attachment but nothing that causes any issues. The PS22 is a great little driver and I have one of those. I don't normally switch between attachments like I did when working on the drawer fronts since I have separate drills and drivers to be able to have different bits set up. I was just doing that to illustrate what can be done if you only had the FlexiClick to work with.

Great and in-depth review indeed. Thank you. I am aware you've made this video 3 years ago, but is there any chance to make a comparison between this one and Milwaukee M12 BDDXKIT 202C 4 in 1 Drill Driver? That would be great. Rumor says it comes with a brushless motor (and no, apparently the Bosch 12V FlexiClick 5-in-1 Drill on the European market has not been blessed with a brushless motor either).

If Milwaukee wanted to send me one to test out I could do a comparison between the two. I've tried reaching out to Milwaukee but they've never gotten back to me. From what I've heard the attachments are more solid on the Flexiclick. The shape of the body of the Milwaukee intrigues me though.

+JessVideoDude it's definitely disappointing that Bosch didn't make the FlexiClick brushless. I have seen some people that have done a brushless conversion though and basically combined Bosch's brushless 12V drill with the FlexiClick to create a brushless FlexiClick and it seems to work well.
@JessVideoDude
@JessVideoDude 6 жыл бұрын
That could work, although it may void the warranty. In the RC hobby we made the switch to brushless motors many years ago, I'm not sure why the tool industry is barely catching up. In the beginning the motors alone use to be high, but the prices have drastically come down, so adding brushless power should be a no brainer.
@DPShopTalk
@DPShopTalk 6 жыл бұрын
+JessVideoDude yeah I think it would definitely void the warranty doing that. So far I haven't found the lack of a brushless motor to be an issue so it's not something that I would bother doing. If it's that simple to do a DIY swap though, you would think that Bosch would have just done it right out of the gate.

Installed many cabinets in kitchens and bathrooms from kits, never needed those attachments. All you needed are drill, impact driver, saw, glue, face frame clamps and some basic hand tools and a very long level to establish high point on the floor. I do have an older 12V Bosch drill, excellent quality and batteries still as good as when it was new.

Great review and channel Dan; I need to drill just a few holes in a concrete wall in a confined space - a distribution board cupboard. Do you think the Flexiclick is up to the job? I appreciate it's not a percussive tool but I only need one inch deep holes.
@DPShopTalk
@DPShopTalk 6 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I would say it would be possible to drill the holes but it would probably take awhile. I've tried drilling holes in concrete with a non hammer drill before and it's usually a long process depending on how many rocks you hit. If a hammer drill won't fit in the space then the FlexiClick would be my choice to get the job done. Bosch does make a 12V hammer drill which is about the same size as the FlexiClick but no attachments for getting into awkward spaces.
@bighands69
@bighands69 5 жыл бұрын
Andrew Date Need to be careful as they are not designed for that type of work. Generally an SDS is used with the right power of motor for drilling into concrete. Now you probably could drill into plaster with brick or block to install a plug and screw but that would be the height of it. Construction grade concrete slabs are going to be difficult for any non hammer drill but even then it would need to be a good hammer drill. Ask around to see who has done this with it.

The hex locking sleeve does not seem to fall back completely into place after inserting a hex bit into it with my Driver. It seems to completely lock the bit in place only when I pull the bit a little (which creates a clicking sound). Is this how it works with every unit or is it just mine?

Hey Dan, I'm curious about the offset attachment. You know when you install some types of door hardware, you have to have your bit on a hard angle to install the screws? Sometimes damaging the handle. I wonder if the offset would prevent that,or at least help.
@DPShopTalk
@DPShopTalk 6 жыл бұрын
+Rob Aguiar great question. I don't think it would help much since the screws are usually within the area that the handle covers which is what forces an angled drive. The offset attachment really wouldn't give any advantage over a long driver bit I don't think.

I have had the Festool CXS for several years now and love it, however, I also have the Bosch brushless 12volt driver which is a great tool also. At $90 US less than the CXS, this looks like a great set to have! Also the CXS doesn't come with the offset driver which would be handy at times.

10.8/12 tools are all the same, Bosch calls it 12v max in the US, and 10.8 in Europe. They can peak at 12v but 10.8 is the more realistic number in normal use. Marketing 😄

Actually Bosch has recently changed the branding from 10.8V to 12V in Europe too. I think this FlexiClick was the first new tool to come out branded as 12V in Europe. I has this FlexiClick drill (in Europe) as well as an older 10.8V regular Bosch drill and they are the same, the chargers and batteries are identical and interchangeable even though one says 10.8V and the other says 12V.

Hello Dan... I'm guessing you may not see this... way back in time. My OLD Bosch 14.4V drill finally died (the batteries are done). I looked at PS-31's awhile back because I knew I was going to need another drill. They are about what I have. The tool you reviewed here (GSR12V-140FCB22) is now a GSR12V-300FCB22 12V... 300 in.lbs and brushless. The older tool is still available and for a lot lower cost. My use is low level... rarely all day or day after day. Would you be happy buying the old model? Thanks for the help... Mike

If there was a way to have an impact driver adapter, that would be a game-changer. I know that impacts deliver torque differently than drill-type drivers, so maybe that would result in a higher-profile adapter compared to the other ones, but it might be worth it.
@DPShopTalk
@DPShopTalk 6 жыл бұрын

Sorry, what I meant is that if one of the accessories turned the drill-driver INTO an impact driver, that would be great. The accessory you mentioned is a right-angle adapter that is _compatible_ with impact drivers. I can accept that there might be some apples/oranges kind of difference between a drill and an impact that prevents the former from being adapted into the latter.
@DPShopTalk
@DPShopTalk 6 жыл бұрын
+Larry Leveen oh ok, sorry I misunderstood what you were getting at. Yes an adapter that produced an impact effect would be great. I think the 18V Flexiclick in Europe has an attachment that turns it into a rotary hammer so the impact aspect might be possible.

@Dan Pattison - Me too. But I don’t own this Bosch version. I kinda like the grip-style of the Milwaukee better. It’s like the Festool that I almost bought on several occasions, but decided to hold off when I saw a video for the Milwaukee unit. Besides I already own a bunch of the 12V tools that would make things easier for me. Also, it’s not as expensive compared to the Festool. Unfortunately have to wait for October to even get the Milwaukee though.
