With this mixer, you can add all the ingredients at once with liquids first and then mix. If you need to add extra ingredients, turn down the speed, remove the cover, add maybe nuts or chocolate and put the cover back on. This should save you time since you don’t have to add each ingredient, wait for it to be incorporated and then add the next.
I like the height of the mixer. It’s not tall so I can fit it under my cabinets and there is no head to tilt. It’s also lightweight for being such a powerful mixer. You saw that it was easy to use. There’s a large, wide opening on top so it’s hard to spill flour and other ingredients as you add them. You have plenty of space so you don’t make a mess.

I also have had ours 40 + yrs. Just got a new top lid. Built like a tank. Love it. Use it every other day. I’m known for my homemade bread. We have the magic mill wheat berry grinder as well. The machine does all the work, makes me look good. Bosch makes quality products hands down. You may pay more for the product, but in the long run you come out miles ahead. So thankful they still had parts available. After 40 yrs use something has to wear out/ break or get lost

This is an excellent video! Your explanations are thorough and straightforward and the narrative is engaging and interesting...great videography too! My wife and I have had a Bosch Universal (now called Universal Classic) 550 Watt two-speed mixer for forty-one years. The only repair that we've had to make was the replacement of a a bearing at the top of the blender base and one mixing bowl failed. We've added several accessories (shredder, more beaters, etc.) and we may add the meat grinder this year. It's a great mixer/multipurpose appliance and I recommend the Universal Classic and Universal Plus to anyone.

I've had a Bosch mixer for 43 + years and made tons of bread, cinnamon rolls, cookies and cakes with mine. It's getting old and shakes when I use it. I bought the grater unit with it and it's so easy easy to make carrot cake by grating the carrots first then adding the rest of the ingredients. Looking to replace mine with a stand mixer is upsetting because they just don't have the features the Bosch has. If anyone bakes a lot and wants the best, this is the one!

Thank you for this VERY THOROUGH overview. I am rehearsing replacements for both my Cuisinart and Kitchen Aid Artisan and am still looking for just the right kitchen helper. This looks promising and your video helped me see the various details not covered anywhere else about this mixer.

I bought this mixer back in early 2019 and I make great dough for bread and pizza. When I first used it I was over kneading the dough and it was stiff like a rubber band. lol. But I master it now. That cinnamon roll oh my looks yummy!

Nice review. Very straight forward. If one's interested in this machine, Pleasant Hill Grain sells them, good company to deal with. The 500 watt designation is due to a revision in how its calculated apparently... it's the same as the 800 watt from what i understand. Double check me on that but I think PHG explains it. Looking to get one of these myself. There is a stainless steel bowl version available or you can buy a big stainless steel bowl that has the hook on the bottom with no center column that can be bought to use instead. Several attachments available. Hope this helps.

Also look at the Ankarsrum. It is more expensive but I love mine. All metal. I’m sure Bosch is great also though. Pleasant hill sells it also. That’s where got mine.

Thanks for another great review. Love your channel and appreciate your thorough reviews. I got this mixer about a month ago as a birthday gift from my husband and ordered the stainless steel model and I absolutely love it. I also ordered the baking accessory pack, which was much more economical than ordering those items separately (bowl scraper, cake paddles, cookie paddles). I ordered from Pleasant Hill Grain and highly recommend them. I’ve been making bread and rolls since receiving it and also have made a couple cakes. This mixer works wonderfully and handles any amount of dough with excellent results. As you stated, it fits (AND operates) underneath cabinets. I have a pretty small kitchen and hate having to haul out and set up an area to use appliances that I use on a fairly regular basis, like a mixer. This mixer can live comfortably on my counter and I don’t have to rearrange things to use it. The only con I can state so far and it may just be because I’m just not used to it, is having that center post in the bowl when scraping out batter or dough. But it’s definitely not a big deal and the pros of this mixer far outweigh that one thing. Just an FYI (not trying to be the mixer police 😂😂), I believe that the dough hook extender sits up against and snaps onto the flat metal piece on the dough hook. Looking forward to more videos on this wonderful mixer. Im hoping to try some cookies in the near future.

Great demo!! I went to the link to order and it showed the universal plus 800w in the pic ..but then I looked at the seller nutri mill and I dug deeper in the description and states there is a wattage change to 500w? But says the motor hasn't changed..im confused and want the one u show in the demo...can u clarify this for me thanks!!!

Can anyone advise if the food processor attachment is powerful enough for hummus making? I understand that it is a little small (5 cups?) but I don't mind making a couple of batches each time. Any plans for Bosch to add an S-blade to the chopper attachment, which appears to work on the main motor? THANK YOU.

I'm thrilled to see you using Lindley Mills flour. I drive 2 & 1/2 hours to get there! I also love Super Sprout; I add 2 tablespoons of orange juice to all of my wheat breads!

@@elisabethbos1990 Sometimes I feel like wheat bread needs a little sweetness to go with the honey and orange juice seems to work well! When I grind my own berries to make whole grain bread I add a very ripe banana; it really make my dough lively but you can't taste banana in the bread.

The dough hook extender is sometimes put in a different place in other videos. It clicks on to the other part that sticks out. Does it matter where it goes?

Hi! Lovely demo. Just bought mine and the mixing bowl is very greasy on the inside...I cleaned it and the parts with soap and water...but I'm wondering if I shouldn't have? I took out the drive shaft as well and cleaned it..DId i do the right thing? The grease wasn't mentioned on the booklets it came with. Hope u see this thx

I would have reservations about a plastic bowl for two reasons. One, it doesn't appear to as sturdy as a metal bowl so I question the plastic bowl's longevity. Second, the plastic will pick up stains and smells from everything you put in the bowl. Those stains eventually become permanent. Whereas staining and smells do not happen with metal.

I've had my bosch for probably 4 years and use it multiple times weekly. It has zero stains or smells. Absolutely love it. They do offer a stainless steel bowl you can purchase separately if desired.

My Bosch is almost 30 years old and NO STAINS or SMELLS. The bowl is almost indestructible. Never be afraid to buy this item. It is the best !!

Great video! However, if you check the directions for the dough hook extender, you are not attaching it correctly. It is to put directly onto the side of the dough hook, it fits in the groove. I've been using Bosch's for 35 years. I still have my old one and it works great, but I also have the new Universal. It's the best!
