Meg and Dagan are taking a look at Bose Portable PA Speakers the S1 Pro and L1 Pro Range. Including the Pro8, Pro16 and Pro32! These speakers have been incredibly popular over the years, being the go to for many musicians. Used for a wide range of applications from busking, to live shows and conferences. The Bose range are known for their crisp and clarity and in this video we'll be putting to the test whether these awesome speakers still hold up in 2023!
The Bose S1 Pro is a battery powered and portable, lightweight PA speaker with optional tilt back feature and for use in many different positions. The S1 Pro has 2 mulit-channel inputs that can be used for either XLR or line-in instruments with built in tonematch presets including EQ and reverb for each channel. Plus bluetooth capabilities for easy streaming, with an option to connect to your phone for advanced enhancements to your streaming setup.
The battery powered possibilities means this portable speaker is a go to choice for buskers and outdoor performers. With upto 11 hours battery life when fully charged, this speaker really can stand on its own for audiences from small outdoor crowds upto small to medium bar gigs.
The L1 Pro Series Line-Array range are powerful and portable upright speakers with endless capabilities. The Pro 8 Dagan is putting to the test in this video features 8 5.1cm neodymium drivers, delivering 180 degree horizontal coverage. These systems give DJs, Singer-songwriters and bands a like a system with easy setup and portabilitity.
With 2 on board multi-channel inputs which can be used for XLR and Line in inputs with on board tonematch presets, EQ and Reverb. Featuring an integrated subwoofer with a unique race track driver design gives you powerful bass, has an optimised centre of gravity and saves a lot of space!
Featuring on board phantom power for use with a condenser microphone as well as 6.5mm and 3.6mm aux inputs plus bluetooth capabilities for easy streaming straight to the speaker. If one system isn't loud enough for your venue then why not pair two systems together? With the optional extra of a Bose T8s Tonematch for more ins and outs. These systems have endless possibilities!

My daughter has an S1. Totally awesome bit of kit for gigging & just as a huge bluetooth speaker. Seems to have stood the test of time, probably had it 3 to 4 years. Still sounds great, simple & never had any feedback issues.

I have the S1 Pro and have used it for years. For live performances I run my vocals and acoustic through a Boss ve8 then into the S1. I also run a Beat Buddy into the Aux. Works great!

I have a pair of L1 PRO 8s as a stereo pair for main FOH playback and a pair of S1 PROs as foldback monitors along with an Allen & Heath desk. It all sounds great, covers most venues that wouldn’t have a house PA without a problem and it all fits in the back of a Volvo C30. I also love not having to run power cables to the S1 PROs. NOTHING else has covered all those bases to date. It also looks great and people always comment (positively) on the sound. I’ve always used high end JBL, RCF and Dynacord and I used to sneer at Bose… not anymore!

For a gig do you put the instruments through a mixer or is it just for vocals?

S1 pro not loud enough for real live shows. Perfect for at home in the house or on the patio. Bose L1 Compact is the very best. It's much better than all the new array systems. Bose needs to release the Big Brother version of the s1 Pro

Thanks for the comment. Looking for something compact that will make the plane ride restriction check list. Including battery, so i will keep looking.. cause this is the 2nd comment i see on the volume not being loud enough

@@jimilee4609 I play on a patio to about 100 or so and have to turn down. (Electric through floor processor) For acoustic it might need some sort of pre-amp/processor.

I am a former employee on the retail from 03-06 and the OG L1s were audition for us with a live band before they were released. They were actually called The cylindrical radiators.Thankfully they were renamed to The L1. We were all impressed by them. I can't believe it's been that long. Good times

What is the power on these? isn't 45w a bit too small? Or is it not the same rubbish wattage we're used to being sold as real wattage?

If the Bose S1 had a half-decent mixer it would be awesome. Sadly the on-board mixer is frankly miserable. No phantom, 2-band EQ and the Tonematch options are a joke. Also the mixer sounds really bad. Compare it to a cheap Behringer and the Behringer pisses all over it. If you bypass the mixer and use the Aux input with an external mixer they can actually sound OK but there is no way Bose can justify the price!
