They're designed with travelers in mind. Much easier to swap a AAA than to charge in between flights.

Having a replaceable standard battery is better than a built-in rechargeable one. This is actually a plus for this headset over others IMO.

I absolutely agree that the AAA battery is far superior to a rechargeable battery. You can get a replacement battery almost anywhere in the world, and for those of us who travel that means a lot. Charging a device in a foreign country can be problematic at times. I certainly wouldn't want to be stuck somewhere for hours just to recharge my headphones. The AAA battery lasts a long, long time and it's easy to throw a couple spare batteries in a backpack, boarding bag, etc. I own the QC-15s and don't travel anywhere without them. Noise cancellation was my primary reason for buying them and I would buy a new QC-25 without a moment's hesitation. Good video!

You people all need to realize that you can get some rechargeable AAA batteries and cycle those. They last long, and you'll never have the problem of listening-time degrading more and more as the weeks and months go by. Plus, AA and AAA are available in virtually every city and in every village general store *worldwide* from Asia and Africa to the America's. The fact it has not a built-in battery is actually a VERY good deal in my opinion (freaking smartphones these days). Batteries degrade over time and are rated for x charge/discharge cycles~ approx 300-500 cycles for lith-ion and lith-polly cells; that means between 1 and 2 years if you charge it once every day; hearing/call-time gets degraded over time as well as time goes by, until the headphone just stops working because the battery is dead. Having AAA as the power source for this headphone for the average consumer is like having your cake and eating it too. Wish I could afford them myself =)

One comment about audiophiles or hi-fi enthusiasts - it is actually not about the flat sound. Flat sound is for monitoring - mixing, mastering, etc. For the music enjoyment, it depends on the "character" and type of music. If bass is a meaningful part of the song, it should stand out more for example.

Your review just helped me to decide. I'm an average listener who is not heavy on the bass and appreciate a well balance sound. In a noisy world, this is a good headphones to have. You totally expressed my thoughts and concerns about getting a pair of headphones. Awesome review.

Wow! Great review man. It's like as if you read my mind...because I actually imagined you would review this headphone. None the less, I think these ones have an above average sound quality when listening to hip-pop or something similar. In terms of the bass, they can definitely be compared to the Skullcandy Crushers because I think those ones also require a battery as well, but crushers have horrible sound quality. Anyway, I think you deserve way more views than this. Your vids are very well done. Keep it up!

You just read my mind! That's mind blowing! Another fantastic review. (I also love the background music you make) The thing I do not understand is that most of the Bose speakers are known to be bassy, but for some reason they chose to do it this way. Well yeah, as you said... they are meant to be "relaxing" but the average consumer loves a littlebit of punch! :D
@oDiProductions
@oDiProductions 8 жыл бұрын
+Danté Thanks for watching Dante!! I had the same exact thoughts, Bose products are previously known to be pretty V-shaped in frequency response, so I was surprised how tame the bass was with these headphones. They're a lot more neutral than I expected them to be. And I love some punch as much as you do! Which is why I love the V-Moda M100s :P

Hey man! Good review! I own a pair of these, they sound really clear and I think that they have plenty of power in the lows... Did you "break in" the pair that you bought before doing the review? It can actually take several hours of listening to music before the drivers loosen up a bit to provide the full frequency response, especially on the low end.

+VIctor Lundgren These headphones will work fine with your PC and pretty much any device with a stereo jack. And as far as noise-cancelation, it's excellent. There is a reason of the AAA Battery, what if you are about to board a 18h flight, you can have spares on the case, or bought in duty free.. you may say that 18 is a too much, but in the States most of flight are very direct, but in my case living in south america, flying overseas , could be 12h to the states 18 - 24 Europe and 36h+ to Asia. I think Bose want a great worldwide product, also one think i noticed in Europe is that there are not such thing as free charging station or Power Outlets. In my country Ecuador , there are lots of power outlets everywhere not just airports also restaurant and even parks...

This review was spot on. I bought these from best buy and used them for about 2 weeks walking around NYC riding the subway and on a trip to Florida. They are comfortable as heck and the sound quality is "relaxed" as you have stated. I was however underwhelmed by the plastic covering; if you tab on it while wearing the headphones you'll feel like jumping out of your skin. Imagine what happens when a train comes buy you in NYC, you'll feel like flinging them off your head. The base was relaxed but I don't ever want a relaxed base; I'm the guy that listens to latin jazz, jazz, Hip Hop, electronica, Pop which are all base dependent. I like a pair of headphones that can give me high hats and strings that are true to life and while Bose does that I also like Base that is also true to life and Bose fails there because believe it or not, Base is NEVER relaxed.

How is it for Gaming? I have been using steelseries siberia elite prism for some time. Before that I had steelseries siberia v2 frost blue. Both the steelseries headsets were really comfortable but Elite is a lot heavier. This QC2 is a lot lighter. So it should be more comfortable. A comparison will help me greatly.

Early this year (2019) I've decided that I wanted a pair of good headphones (i've had a pair of skullcandy crushers for about 3 years now) and after digging into the webs and thanksto a mighty offer by amazon I got these for about $100. One of the main reasons I got these over the newer qc35 -besides the price tag- was the AAA battery. Anyway, to my ears they sound great and are the most comfortable pair of cans I've ever had. The only downside is that a couple months later the sony 1000 xm3 went on sale and of course I had to get them, soundwise they are so much better and they are what i take with me to my job, but the cmfort factor in the bose made me kept them and are what I use when working at home.

Had them for a few years, and overall I was happy with them although tough they were a bit pricey for the quality they offer. One day the right side speaker stopped working, I hadn't dropped them or anything, the right speaker just stopped working. A couple of they ago I started to search on the net for a solution for the problem and came across a video on KZfaq that explained that it was a common problem and all you had to do was to revoke the cushion and the sticker that cover the speaker underneath and apply some pressure on this with a pencil or whatever. I could believe it but it worked. I am happy the it works again but such high end headphones cannot have this problem.

Nice review! These seem like an excellent pair of headphones for me, except for the fact that they have a relaxing sound... I listen to mostly classic rock and alot of eminem and i like to have my music on loud and in my face (and of course a decent base for the eminem that i listen to), do you have any suggestions? P.S. I've only ever used the Apple earbuds until they recently broke
@oDiProductions
@oDiProductions 8 жыл бұрын
+Tex Bonasera Definitely! For the same price range, I wholeheartedly recommend either the V-Moda Crossfade M100s (kzfaq.info/get/bejne/iamHq6iBxKzaaGg.html) or the Sennheiser Momentum 2.0 Over-ears (kzfaq.info/get/bejne/i9KDarNp252caGw.html). The V-Modas will have more bass which is good for hip hop like Eminem, and the Momentum's will have beautiful mids and soundstage to bring out the best in classic rock/live band type music. You can't go wrong with either! Both of those links above are to my review of each headphone, check em out and decide for yourself.

+Zohaib Syed If you can swing it, I'd choose the M100s any day of the week. They are a class above the M50x in every category. As far as gaming goes, the M100s do a great job, and I regularly use mine as a headset with BO3 on PS4. Btw, V-moda also sells a mic attachment that turns the M100s into a pretty solid gaming headset. Check it out!

The good thing about an AAA battery is being able to change it. Rechargeable headphones require you to charge them. That is not always possible when you are on the go. I think these headphones are great. I think the comment about a relaxing sound is spot on.
@rockslide4802
@rockslide4802 6 жыл бұрын
Right. And what happens when the built-in, rechargeable battery dies and needs to be replaced? You'll be on the phone to Bose, paying for a pricey replacement battery. But more likely, you'll need to pay a large fee for them to replace the unit on one-time basis. If your QC-35 dies while you're traveling out of the country, good luck! I'll take a AAA battery any day!

Good review. I've owned a pair for about 3 months. I use them daily and gone thru 4 batteries so far. There's definitely more positives than negatives. Noise cancellation is tremendous. Sound is good. Agree with reviewer that the bass is subdued. But mid range is excellent. The negatives are comfort. Although they are one of the most comfortable headphones, they will hurt your ears after a half hour. The top of the headphone puts some pressure on the top of your head. I have to adjust or even remove them for a minute or two and then I'm good for another half hour. Maybe I was expecting more comfort than is really possible. The last negative is the battery and power system. You would think they would include a auto-power off of the headphone after an hour of no movement. But they don't. You have to remember to turn them off. Not a big deal, just something they should have included. So on whole, I'm glad I spent $300 on these. Great for commuting, music and you-tube videos.

Hey. Great review. I currently have the sound-link around the ear ll, the noise bleed is pretty bad. I use them in the gym and people can clearly hear what I'm listening to, is that the same for the QC 25s?

Excellent review ... thank you. I just have one alternative viewpoint: I prefer an AAA battery to a built-in rechargeable. I owned the Beats Studio, which I bought when I knew less about headphones, and it had a rechargeable battery. Too often I picked up the Beats and found them dead, often because I hadn't mastered the switching off procedure. I couldn't even plug them in and get them to work immediately - I had to wait for them to recharge to a certain level. How aggravating would it be to get on a plane and have your noise-cancellation die halfway through the trip? If you remember to keep an extra AAA battery in the Bose case - and there's a hole for it - you're good for another 35 hours (27, I think, with rechargeable AAAs). And I have rechargeable AAA batteries, so that takes care of cost and the earth.

returned M40x after 10 days, just too tight for me. And M50x seems too large for my need. I was hesitating between QC25 and Momentum 2.0, for about the same price, I gave up some bass for a comfort and quieter headphone ( also lighter on my head). Got QC25 for about a month now. I also find the low is a bit thin, and my Note 5 isn't pushing it very loud either (75% volume+) Also, I was lucky to get the triple black edition, it looks very classy on head, not stupidly attracting attention like Beats. Battery life was also great, first one lasted 20 days ( I use it almost everyday). So, yeah, if I had to choose again, QC25 hands down. I wish: - more low end - wider ear pad toward the inside to give more contact surface (pressure could be lowered a little bit)

I own a pair of these. I love them. I think the mat metal on the sides, and the band feel pretty nice. I also love the sound quality, the ear ups, and the noise cancelation. I personally use these for school and gaming and I just love them and I’d recommend these to anyone. The only two issue on them is the fact they have leather ear cups that get a bit hot as well as the head band which after wearing them for about an hour or two it starts pinching your crown

Thoughts on the battery thing: In a way a replaceable battery can be better for this application. Usually when you want to use NC headphones is travelling, plane rides, train rides, bus rides etc. For the most part these types of events are long, especially international flights. Lets say when the juice runs out, during the trip, or you forget to charge before the trip it kinda sucks not being able to use them for the purpose you bought them for, during the portion of the trip you need them for. With this you can just kinda swap it it out and you are golden. Not raggin on that point, just maybe another perspective on why they still use that feature. Also for the plastic bits, I think they were made that way to reduce the weight, and heat so you could wear them for longer durations. (trying to minimize headphone fatigue)

I'm not sure if this has been discussed but sound does leak out from the QC25's headphones. I have the Sony MDR-100AAP and while comparing these with the QC25's at the same volume level on my iPhone 6S, my wife standing about 6ft away mentioned that she could hear the song I was monitoring clearly and a bit loud when I had on the QC25's. With the Sony's, she could barely hear the song I was listening to, and in fact the Sony's in my ears sounded louder then the QC25s and so I thought she would hear the Sony's at a distance. I obviously cannot tell the volume of sound emitting from my headphones with them on, but I thought to mention this observation.

I have had the qc15's for many years, the only reason for me to upgrade is the fact they will continue to play music (without noise cancellation) after the battery has died. The cable on the 25's is not a 'standard' cable as mentioned here. It is actually a 3.5mm to 2.5mm jack so the usual manufacturer cabling dickery there with a proprietary (ish) cable. You can get them but a standard 3.5 to 3.5 would have been less of an asshole move by Bose. These headphones are completely successful at the two things they say they will do they are noise cancelling, as in ambient noise, they won't make someones voice go away but background noise yes and when sitting in a noisy office they can actually help you listen in on conversations that are further away but masked by air conditioning noise etc.... and they are incredibly comfortable. There are also some 3rd party bluetooth options that are coming out that would make getting the new blue tooth versions a little less necessary. Build wise, you end up with the usual black dandruff after a year or so and need new ear cups but I was wearing these for 5-6 hours a day so, I'm ok with that. The headband flaked off to but there is a spongy material underneath that doesn't look too bad so I have not replaced the band. One of the few products in my life that I can 100% recommend. If you are looking for an audiophile experience then go buy audiophile headphones.

Do you know if they fixed the issue that the QC15 had (headphones not powering up due to a design defect... the wire that runs from the battery compartment to the negative post on the door/hinge has a fatigue failure problem. Through many repetitions of opening and closing the door to change the battery you inadvertently cause the wire to snap)?

Use these with a Fiio headphone amp, I use the A3 and they sound fantastic with tight punchy bass that otherwise may be lacking for some people. Personally, even without the A3 the bass is fine for me 😄

Hey I think about either buying the Bose QC25 or the bose studio wireless. I would also like a consider an audio technica product that is wireless, but I have seen any good options. Which do you recommend?
@oDiProductions
@oDiProductions 8 жыл бұрын
+Mauricio Castro As great as Audio-Technica is, I don't think they're quite there yet with Wireless headphones. Their wired offerings are much better quality. With that said, the Bose QC25 isn't wireless either, but does have decent sound quality and excellent noise-cancellation. I would go with the Beats Wireless if Bluetooth is a must, they are pretty decent sound quality for a truly Wireless headphone.

I won't comment on the sound quality but I think the obvious reason to make a pair of headphones like these almost entirely out of plastic is, as you mentioned, the weight. These are intended to be used for travel and, especially if flying, weight becomes an issue. If I want premium build quality but I don't intend on travelling with it then I'd be getting something totally different. Additionally, the criticism of the battery...I don't really understand why built-in batteries are considered to be a great thing. Any battery has a certain life-span and, in the case of most modern tech, that lifespan will be a lot shorter than that of the rest of the product (this is certainly true of headphones unless you physically break them). If I'm paying hundreds of dollars for a pair of headphones then I don't want to have to be sending them off to have the internal battery replaced for a significant fee or having to replace them entirely a couple of years in. Additionally, if the rechargeable battery dies on me whilst I'm not in the vicinity of a charger then so much for listening to music. A replaceable battery is the superior option in every way except the "cool" factor...Mobile phones with a closed uni-body design can have a more premium feel to them than the plastic Samsungs up to the S5. This doesn't make much of a difference since the phone will be going in a case anyway but it will make a huge difference two years down the line when the S6 user is replacing their phone due to a crapped out battery, whilst I'm just buying a new battery for my S5. Same exact situation here.

4:30 i can say a lot of bad stuff about these headphones from a sound standpoint but i gotta disagree the plastic is probably there to make them lighter(as u mention later on) the feel well built but the sound is just terrible imo im selling my pair on ebay since the sound they produced seemed sharper than my other headphones up to the point where i felt ear pain after around 30 minutes of usage on similar volume settings to my other Headphones that being said, my 50€ Bose in ears have been serving me very well, offering imo better sound while in quiet environments for 1/4 of what i paid for these
