Toni, after you comment I did actually get the Bose revolve+ and credit to your audio quality I'd did have the weird phase effects and lack lustre sound. Worse, when put on the charging base it bleeps every so often when the Topup cycle start (yes it is switched off). So I got rid of it back to the shop. In parallel I bought the jbl xtreme, and sure it is coloured and a bit over bassy, but it sound great in the garden... which is what I wanted...so it's JBL !

I had both in my place last month. Listening over a video is not very accurate. In person the Bose the much better...especially at low moderate volumes. The sound is more balanced. The JBL is very boomy and base heavy. It's kinda annoying. The only time the jbl would be better is outside with a very loud environment so the over emphasized boomy bass is somewhat cancelled out.

Full volume on bose is amazing. No muffle. Jbl has muffle. Can't go 3/4 volume without hearing it. Had both. And Bose wins. Clarity is just so amazing.

Bose sounds unbelievable irl. All that sound coming from such a little thing.

I coach beach volleyball out on the beach and need a speaker that can sit in the middle of 4 courts and be heard on all of them. The Brookstone Big Blue Party Indoor Outdoor Speaker was perfect, but I had to replace it because it’s a fire hazard. I bought the JBL Boombox and it does everything we need EXCEPT it only faces one way, so you can’t hear it from the two courts behind it. What is the best replacement? I need portable, bluetooth, loud, 360 degree or at least front & back speakers so sound goes 2 opposite directions, and waterproof if possible. Budget up to $500. I'm looking at the Bose Revolve+ but am not sure it's as loud as the Big Blue Party. Does anyone have any recommendations?

The deal breaker is the bass output of the JBL vs the BOSE. The BOSE has impressive output for it’s size, but I also like the Xtreme’s vocal separation from the rest of the music. BOSE may have better balance in accurate frequency, but the JBL would be more fun to listen to, and I hear more distinct, different sounds as songs play with the JBL.

Those jbl extremes have a glitch where some have to be plugged in to cut on or stay on.....I have owned 3 of them only to have all of them returned

I have bought the new jbl extreme 2 and now i got the bose revolve plus. On my owen opinion i would say they both sound much more better with good clarity to. Because i love bass so much and i like more boomy bass i have to go for the jbl extreme because i like heavy bass speaker. However i still love the Bose revolve plus and to me i would say the bass is pritty good with a good thump to.

The Bose gives a 360 sound and sounds crisp, the JBL xtreme sound nice and all with the bass but it doesn’t give you that 360 sound . The Xtreme is better in a one way direction. Unlike the Bose you could play it outdoor and sounds would come from either way no matter where the speaker is facing. If the sound may be the issue . There’s always EQ ...

You are changing the sound quality to change the Mic's positions

Lol I have both and the video sound quality doesn't do any justice. But in my opinion the jbl is louder with adequate bass and the Bose is also loud but with a better sound quality with controlled bass. Also money wise the jbl wins as it's an older product so it's cheaper than the Bose!

Comparing any audible or visual products on KZfaq is hard. I would way it's close to impossible. Everything depends on placement of mics, quality of mics and most importantly quality of the speakers of the listener. In this video, the Bose sounded really thin. I own one and can assure you it doesn't. It is actually extremely full sound with amazing bass. I think this might be because of the 360 nature of the Bose. It's hard to pick up such 360 sound with mics placed close to it. The JBL makes sound to one direction which makes it way easier for the mics to pick it up

I know this is an old review, but you should compare the same parts of the song side by side instead of comparing different parts of the song. it's kinda hard to tell the difference if the sounds keep changing.

the Bose sounds hollow . The vocals are distant . The sound seems washed out . . The extreme seem more emersive and richer with vocals pushed forward.JBL have just brought an update out which solves any distortion on the extreme bass frequencies .

I'm using Sony MDR-XB950N1 sound cancellation headphones... and from my end the JBL sounds fuller . A little less refined, but fuller . The Bose sounds hollow, clean but very hollow . I don't like that sound. But if jbl could build an xtreme speaker that had drivers in the front and back, I'd pay the price difference

Based on the sound comparisons here, the JBL sounded much better than the Bose. JBL has a richer bass and a sound presence that sounds like a larger stereo, whereas the Bose sounds (to me) much more tinnier and more flat and distant.

Good review but I find it bizarre that you chose the BOSE over the JBL. They must sound very different in real life because in the recording the JBL was clearly the winner throughout the whole frequency range. The BOSE sounded tiny

Comparing differently sized Speakers is never fair. At full volume BOSE sounds boxed, JBL quite natural. Well its the size of course, which is cool with the BOSE.

Jbl smokes the Bose. I own Bose and JBL products, professional grades. Bose is lighter and practical, JBL is when I need audio quality and performance. Bose just can't throw or compete.

Bose revolve plus hands down i get it tomorrow on best buy the quality is insane is water proof battery life is up to 24 hours and not distort the sounds but the xtreme it's not water proof and it's sounds distorted and battery life is 8 hours so people do ur math here come on

No question, the JBL sounds fuller and richer. The Bose has a noticeably "canned" sound where the JBL sounds open and breathes freely. The Bose is still good, but I don'y believe offers the best value in terms of sound reproduction. Thank you, I almost bought the Bose.
