I purchased one n it’s my first Bose speaker n I love it. I got the mic transmitter n works great. This is so loud that you’d swear it’s coming from a much bigger speaker. I just put it less than half volume n it’s so loud. It’s very portable I’m just so thrilled. I might get another mic transmitter because while using one I can have one charging. It says transmitter last 4 hrs. So if I go beyond I can have the other one ready. I don’t play an instrument but I sing while a track is playing n this sounds so professional it’s just a joy for me to own. This is a great review!!!

It was not loud using the SM58 Mic but should be just fine for smaller spaces.

I just ordered the Bose S1 Pro+. When it comes to transporting the Bose S1 Pro+ to shows or busking, the matching Bose backpack with dual shoulder straps measures 13.10"x 9.40"x 11" and costs $160. Fishman Loudbox Mini Charge case with single shoulder strap measures almost the same at 13.75"x 9.50"x 11.50" and costs $134.95. Orange Crush Acoustic 30 case with single shoulder strap measures slightly larger at 14.25"x 11"x 12" and costs the least at $58.39. TAMA Powerpad Cajon backpack with dual shoulder straps measures 20.4"x 12.9"x 12.9" (tight one way and loose the other so should work with space on top for mic, pedals and jacket or lunch) cost = $89.95. A wheeled rolling carry-on suitcase typically measures 19.25"x 10.75"x 13.75" and cost can run as low as $34 and up. That last choice is most water resistant and durable while providing room for extras as well. Price and measurements are all U.S.

I missed the live stream but that was a really good and honest review. I had been looking at these for smaller gigs. I like simplicity and stuff that just works, so the drop out issue would be a deal breaker for me. I mentioned last week about the Laney A-Duo, as a lower priced solution. I’ve now received it, rehearsed with it today, put it through its paces and it’s excellent, but I’ll see how it does in a pub gig.

Thank you Aaron for the review. I think it would be so nice, if there would be as a bluetooth footswitch (i.e.airturn) option in the app for to switch on and off the reverb effect of the mic whilst moderation between singing songs.

Good point. You can bypass the reverb in the app but I agree it would be nice with a footswitch.

I just bought one. Oh My God!!!!!! Even though I own many Bose products . (L1 pro, L1 compact, QCs) , I’m still blown away with the amazing sound and every feature of this supersmall system. Absolutely perfect for busking or small gigs in a bar or small open spaces. It literally takes 30 seconds to set up your sound and play your music straight away!! Amazed and so happy. Chapeau!!

Excellent content. Thanks heaps for your time & honest review. A couple of questions pls Aaron. Third channel Aux Can it be used for a stomp box? Can I hook up the original S1 Pro to this new one S1Pro +?

Thanks! Yes the third Chanel am be used with anything that has a preamp or a good healthy signal. You cannot connect the two together via the Bose Music app. You would need two +’s.

@@aaronshortmusic Thanks man, will do. I'm trying to figure out a good setup for my singer songwriter gigs and it's honestly between the S1 Pro+, the Everse 8 or a QSC k8.2, which needs a mixer and mains-power, but probably sounds best and would be upgradable in the future.

Thanks for the review Aaron. I find that the app is too complicated to get the Bluetooth connection. It is even more tedious if you are pairing both speakers to get stereo mode. In general, most of Bose apps are frustrating to use. Otherwise, your review is spot on. Great job.

Mine connects perfectly every time but I do have the latest iPhone 14 Pro Max. I’m sure the helps. I’m going to make a tips video on using two in stereo, I haven’t tried that yet.

A very helpful, thoughtful review. Thank you! Quick question: for a larger (3 person) band, is using a submixer effective? Thinking of using an S1 Pro+ for 3 vocals and running the output through our larger PA. Worst idea ever?

I think that’s asking too much unless you are going to be running it quite low. You would need to try it.

@@aaronshortmusic Gotcha! The driving reason for this is that our mando/fiddle player has hearing issues. Our usual audio set up hasn't been working well from his point of view. I thought that perhaps using the Bose as a monitor for him and routing the output to the larger PA might be a solution in a pub/small venue application. I truly appreciate the feedback.

@@aaronshortmusic Thanks for a quick response. I am a vocalist looking for something light weight that I can sing to a recorded track as well as plug in a keyboard, and this seems like the answer. I can use this for small gigs & rehearsal’s. Would I be able to use my Shure DLXD4 wireless mic as a setup? I did watch the other review, you are helpful & very patient. Thanks!

Thank you Aaron for the info, however I just got the speaker pundit on the charge for few hours like the instructions said, I used the speaker for 1 hour then I try to used three days later battery was dead. Any issues that you have experienced with the battery? However I insert the microphone transmitter when the speaker was unplugged. Thank you.

I’m not sure. This didn’t happen to me but I would suggest you charge it overnight. That’s what I usually do. It should then hold its charge. Try that and also update the firmware. It’s possibly you have a defective unit but the two I have tried have been fine.

You cannot link the original via Bluetooth and if you could it would only send streaming music and not the instruments.

Before returning the unit, I'd run cable direct to see if the dropout is related to something else internal rather than wireless system. Might be something in the guitar as well. I once returned a Roland AC-33RW before discovering that the ES system in my brand new Taylor 516 was cutting out. One more thing, weren't there some major sunspot activities impacting transmissions around the time you ran into the dropout problem?

In this video you seemed so adamant about returning the S1 Pro+ that I didn't realize there were follow-up videos. Thanks for the reply because I had been seriously planning to replace my Fishman Loudbox Mini- Charge, which weighs a significant 5.7 lbs. more (2.58548 kilograms) plus is 60 watts weaker than the Bose 150 watts, not to mention trading up to all that new Bose technology.

New ToneMatches? I’m not sure. They are only EQ presets. You can try them all and one of them may work well for you.

The Bose S1 sounds nice but it is not very loud for a PA system for picnics and larger rooms. Would you recommend the Everse 8 instead?

Everse 8 gets a little louder yes but the Bose is smaller and lighter and has a nice tone. You have to weigh up what you need.

@@aaronshortmusic I’m just saying in the heat of the moment,grabbing the knob is way faster than wading through the menu.(as you demonstrated).The flip side being no one can make adjustments without training.

@@jameslifetimelearner It’s not as fast as a physical knob but they implemented it really well and I always use the app anyway. It also means they can add or change controls in the future.

I‘m happy about the trade-off, losing some of the physical tweaking ability but gaining software control, e.g. while out in the room doing a soundcheck. Also, by simplifying the controls and moving (additionally) to app control, this opens up the possibility of adding features in the future. Hopefully they will. After all, losing the direct EQ and reverb knobs is not as critical, normally, as having direct control of the volume. EQ and reverb tend to get set before performing, and stay that way throughout.

Another question please. I run vox ch 1 and axe ch 2 I also have a polytune tuner on the floor. I am about to add a ditto loop pedal to the mix. So my question is about leads. I’ve just ordered a mogami patch cable and I’m thinking I need this one below to complete the set up is that right and plug it into ch 2 Mogami Insert Y-Cable 1/4 TRS to Dual 1/4 TS

Q- If I utilize two S1Pro+’s at an event will that solve some of the lack of DB output to make a ‘sizable’ difference of volume? I know you said it would be a great for a ‘house party,’ but could I play in a larger room?

Of course. It will be louder. It’s hard to give an idea of how loud a speaker is because it depends on the venue and level of ambient noise etc.

I am a dance teacher , so I was thinking of using the wireless mic and also use wireless guitar adapter to sent it up to play my music through via pc and a chord mojo2 , or via Bluetooth. thought the wifi would give me a pure sound??? ,

Can you pair 1 Bose XLR wireless transmitter to 2 Bose S1 Pro+ at the same time? When I pair the 2 speakers together, I only get the mic to play on one speaker at a time.

No. You would need to pair it to the host unit and then connect to the other S1 with a cable.

I am using a DPA 4099 condenser mike connected to a Bose T4S then connected to channel 3 on the S1 Pro + with a TRS cable. My question relates to the best way to set the volume. Should I set the S1 Pro volume to 50% then use the mixer to set the final volume or should I set the SI Pro volume higher or lower and adjust the volume on the mixer to get the level I want? Everything on the mixer is zero EQ since the whole purpose of this expensive microphone is to allow the guitar to sound the way it sounds unamplified except amplified and of course there is no EQ adjustment on the guitars when played unamplified. Or should I skip the mixer altogether and plus the mike directly into the S1 (I have external phantom power) and just use that volume control? I am using the mike on my Martin 000-28EC; Ramirez Classical and Cordoba crossover. Thanks for any input you may provide.

That’s a lot of adjustability. The most important thing is not to clip the input. I would set the S1 Pro to 50% and then set the mic so that the mixer is not clipping and also ensure that the S1 is only flickering on and off red and no more than that. The worst thing to do is to clip digital inputs.

@@aaronshortmusic Thank you for getting back to me so quickly. I will tell you that I just plugged the 4099 directly into the S1 and set the treble and bass at straight up twelve o'clock and I think it sounded better then running it through that mixer and fooling around with all those adjustments. I don't have to run the guitars through the mixer since I can use that for the microphones, the percussion loops and the bass but I will experiment around with your suggestions to see if it makes a difference. It's certainly simpler to plug straight in to the S1.

It’s not ideal but it should be possible. There will be no reverb.

Hi! @aaronshortmusic Have you had any issues with a latency in live stream mode. I just bought my new S1 Pro+ when I try to record and listen to my playback I feel around 15ms delay. And I have checked that the issue is not on the cpu processing side because with other audio interfaces everything is ok. It seems that the PA system sending the signal to the computer with a delay.

That would be interesting. Like a dual source acoustic amp. The only thing is the slight latency of the wireless could create a phasing issue. I’m not sure.

As far as the transmitters. I have 3 different guitars. If I’ve got 3 Bose wireless guitar transmitters and link them to the same channel, would they work? I currently use a Shure wireless guitar system with 3 separate transmitters . I turn off the ones I’m not using and it works beautifully. Will the Bose S1Pro + work with 3 different transmitters?

I’m not sure but that would be expensive. The transmitter has a useful ‘mute switch’ so why not just switch the transmitter between guitars?

@@aaronshortmusic Well actually way less expensive then my current Shure transmitters @ $260 each. As far as switching transmitters… I don’t want to interrupt the flow and one less thing I have to think about is welcome in a live performance. So curious if getting another Bose transmitter would work. I’ll let you know if I figure it out.

@@aaronshortmusic thnx so much. I use a JBL PARTYBOX 310 now for smaller gigs until 40 persons, but I can’t use my XVive inears for that. So I have to use the JBL as a monitor by standing in front of it. If the Bose S1 Pro plus is just as powerful as the 310, it would be a great improvement being able to use my inears. And lighter too ;-)

Yes! Both channels can use either wireless.

To do that, you need to buy the right transmitters, i.e. two of the ones that can handle mic or instrument signals (switchable). You should avoid getting the one that can only handle instruments.

I stated this issue recently on one of Aaron's live casts, but now I know the exact issue, kinda. After I got the S1Pro Plus and updated firmware, went through manual and several KZfaq vids on using 'inserting and livestream methods', I inserted the Line6 Pod Express, which could be any mulit fx or modeler. Connected IPAD with USB-C and turned on Livestream on Pro Plus. Also turned off expansion setting. Started recording on TRACK1 of Logic Pro using wireless BT on Pro Plus. When playing back track one, the recording has guitar 'plus metronome, or any BT streaming back from Pro Plus' !? So the Pro Plus BT stream is also being recorded by Logic onto track 1. Only work around is to turn off Bluetooth, but then I lose audio. Recording to a camera or using another audio interface may solve issue. Having Logic use BT to operate conflicts with the Pro Plus. Anyone else try and record with the new Logic for Ipad using livestream on Pro Plus?

Called Bose support and this person did not have a clue, sadly. Maybe a forum or someone like you that digs and digs on solutions. Appreciate your time Aaron. I'll see if I can shoot some contacts/emails to Apple/Bose and forums. Not in a big hurry, as Logic with ipad is kinda clunky unless your doing canned loops, etc. I'm a Pro Tools guy pretty much. Having said all that, I'm happy with the S1 Pro Plus!@@aaronshortmusic

You could use the wireless XLR transmitter to send audio to it but it would be mono.

@@cdp6896 Make sure the firmware is updated and reset everything. It should just pair with the speaker as soon as you insert it there when you take it out and turn it on.

I just got the S1 + yesterday and I've notised some bad sound when a streamed track is very bass based. I tested the hz with kzfaq.info/get/bejne/i7iieNeqq7mpfpc.html and it sounds bad from 40-70hz. In the specs it's ment from 70hz plus but there is no low cut I could turn on besides the sub option. Is this the same with the original S1 Pro? Because I use in in meditation it could be very disturbing. Does someone has a solution or experienced the same?

It does have a lot of bass for it’s size. I would turn down the bass or use the sub option. Also the orientation you set the speaker in (flat/tilted etc.) will affect the amount of bass as well.

Yes it’s been working great since the update. I’m using it for small gigs where I want a super light and clean setup. It’s great for that!

No one demo these with vocals with reverb why is that no mids no delay the reverb no good. And u cannot conect a multy effect board with 2 xlr out

No mono speaker will have a stereo input. You need two speakers for stereo. The reverb is fine, if you need a more advanced Reverb then you can connect an external mixer or pedal. I really like these for what they are. If you need more I would recommend a small PA system.

So..I bought this because I was sick of my “big” and heavy PA system. Took it home and unboxed it. I think I’ve never been so disappointed in my entire life. I play a guitar and sing. That’s it. BUT… I HATE THE REVERB. It sounds so cheap. For my vocals I like hall/church-like effects, and I was so disappointed that it only had the one reverb-type. I was hoping I didn’t need to buy more pedals and stuff… unless someone tells me a secret I don’t know, I’m returning it to the store.

It’s not the ‘best’ reverb and is not flexible but when I play I just don’t pay attention to it. I don’t think any portable speaker has a great built in reverb. You can always add your reverb pedal of choice.

@@marcusasmyhr1805 What kind of reverb are you looking for and how important is it to you? There are a bunch of reverb pedals in the market. Maybe look for one that can be powered by the S1 Pro or get a multi effects like the TC Play Acoustic pedal that can do voice and guitar. I would use the internal one for a while and see if you can get used to it.

Disappointed interference and drop out on gigs so I gave up in the end and have to hard wire mic and guitar. Wast of money

BOSE IS F'ING CRAZY! A 1000.00 DOLLARS FOR IT FULLY LOADED. NO THANKS BOSE! And i own everything Bose. F1 stacks, 4 Sub 2's, S1 Pro, Tone Match T4S, Sound Dock , Head Phones, Ear Buds. But I will never pay a Grand for this little speaker. Lost me on this one.

Well it’s the same price as the original S1 Pro and the Sennheiser XSW systems are $320 each. It seems a fair price to me if it works as advertised.

@@aaronshortmusic No it is not the same price. The + is 100.00 more without the 2 wireless modules. When you add them to the cost they are 300 for the pair. Total before tax is a 1000.00 dollars.
