Updating the Boss 200 Series is a must if you want to have access to all 128 patches. I give you a step by step guide on how to update the Firmware, show you how to access those extra patches, and watch out for some issues I ran into.

I just got a DD 200 delay, thank you for this video, really helpful…I still find a bit uncomfortable that you can break your unit during the firmware update…I need to do that to have more preset slot that I can drive with my midi controller but I’m scared to damage the unit 😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫

Thank you so much!!! I really need it for the MD. I really hate to delete a good preset to replace it with an other that i might need for a song. I almost deleted a good flanger that came from factory. Now with more memory presets, i can save my list of effects loop or stereo presets. Such a relief. I really appreciate the video!!🙏🏻

Thanks for the vid, and to a few in the comments - it failed on my Mac twice (Intel) - curious. Swapped to a WN machine and all done. Man Bun, your directions are clear. To me, Boss' are a fractionally ambiguous. Kind of odd as I thought they'd be on the mark for a Co. like Roland/Boss.

Thanks for the firmware update help! I also had the same update pause at 1 second. I started over and it did it again. So I moved from my PC desktop to my laptop and got the same response. Then, I moved to my Macbook Pro (M1 chip) and it worked perfectly. I successfully updated my DD-200 and OD-200. I was feeling a little cocky, so when I started updating the MD-200, I ran out to check the mail. I got a little distracted. When I came back, the laptop had timed out and was in screensaver mode with an ERROR message displayed on the MD-200. I pulled everything apart and started over again (but I didn't walk away this time). It updated perfectly! Last thing: you have to zero all the knobs or it won't go into the update mode. Thanks again for the tutorial. Now I'm searching for a list of different effect settings to start dialing into my presets!

I have a MD-200. I got exactly same update issue. Stucked on %1. Problem is related with USB cable. It should be compatible. I changed my usb cable and it worked!

Super helpful video. Thanks! I'm having an issue where I cannot get my DD-200 to show up in the SMF player. I've tried different USB cables and different Mac computers, but maybe I'll try a PC and see if my luck is any different.

No experience with Macs but I've heard there's been issues using MIDI devices with them sometimes.

@@ManBunMetalHead Thanks for the reply. I tried a third USB cable (from an LG Android phone I used to have) and that one worked. The Samsung cable, and the generic one did not work. One nerve wracking thing that happened was... while updating, my MacBook went to sleep. I caught it right away and woke it up. The DD-200 stopped blinking and showed "Err" on it's screen, but the percentage on the computer screen was still rising as if the update was still happening. Just to see what would happen, I left the pedal alone and let the computer finish the update. When it said it was complete (pedal still showing Err), I powered it off, back on, and v1.11 was loaded. So it worked. I then did a factory reset like Boss suggests and everything is working. Just a tip for anyone, if the pedal says Err, but the computer is still doing the update, just let it finish. It might be fine even though it appears not to be!

@@KipCount , then there's a problem with the new M1 macs. I'm registering issues with my M1 MBP... the updateSMF software does not register any connection to the 200EQ with plugged in. Am now trying to find a spare PC laptop to update the firmware.

Great video, as always. I do have one but I still can't believe that there is no way to backup presets to a pc, I'd almost switch to Source Audio... will Boss or somebody fix this? Thanks

Right? It also seems counter intuitive that you can't make your own presets on the computer. Especially for the slicer.

thanks!! worked perfectly in my md 200 (very important to turn all the knobs down to be recognized by de notebook (mac in mi case). One question, do you know how to bank down de memorys? if you are in memory 7 and want to go to 1 again, i have to go all the way to 127 and start over, so wierd. Thanks in advance !

I don't have the MD200 anymore, but if I remember correctly, you should be able to hit the smaller Memory button (not footswitch) to select the previous memory.

After finishing the update, unplugging and plugging again, no “prc”!! The pedal showed the latest update was correct but then she kept freezing! Anyone had any similar issues?
