Awesome comparison man - love the idea of having one in each ear! They are pretty much identical,and if people worry that they'll break, you can buy 4 behringers for one boss - plenty of spares! Totally agree the annotations should work in youtube - made me lol. Make more vids like this!

That's awesome -- you just helped me find an affordable option to the OC3 while I continue to save for my gold-plated aircraft carrier. And that was an amazing idea to run them in each ear for a side-by-side comparison -- it really helped! thank you!

If the sub N Up is still available that's a great pedal.

@@AmbientJoe ya man! I'm on a journey! I'm building an affordaboard and then adding and upgrading things as I go! The Sub N Up and POGmini are in the next weight class for me on my budgetary pyramid -- with the eventual goal of just a straight up POG2. Me thinks at least. Like I said -- I'm on a journey -- and I have no idea where I will end up! But I very much appreciate the time and effort you put into making a straight to the point -- and crystal clear comparison! It genuinely helped push me through the cost/reward anxiety barrier of entry -- and it is much appreciated bud! Cheers from Canada!

Behringer is an exact Boss clone, according to some people it is the exact same because Behringer makes the internals of some BOSS, MXR and Ibanez pedals and than makes EXACT clones. See the article "THE ULTIMATE BEHRINGER GUITAR PEDAL CLONE LIST [2023 UPDATED]"

Great video! Do you think i can play the poly function with a piezo electric acoustic nylon string? Can they read just the 3 low strings from a piezo or do they need magnetic pick ups?? ... thanks!
@AmbientJoe
@AmbientJoe 6 жыл бұрын
ACUSTIJUANA Ricardo Bandera I would imagine so, if the signal is strong enough from the pick up the pedal should do all the work. I'm not 100% sure. What were you planning on doing? I'm intrigued to hear what your planning on doing.

Awesome man I had an OC3 years ago and loved it playing poly power chords with metal distortion and drop C riffs but stupidly sold it; think I found a cheap replacement in the Beringer!

I quite buying Behringer pedals after buying two the The ultra chorus UC200, and the Ultra octaver UO300, both turned up faulty, so I back them and now use the Valeton GP-100, far better build quality, and more importantly it worked when it arrived.
@JayTheLane

Seriously, build quality aside they are pretty much the same. Id pay an extra £20 for a metal casing on the Behringer. Also mate you play with lovely feel, that first firm Muse riff was awesome 👍🏼

Just noticed at 4:00 when you use the OC-3 for -2 octaves, it doesn't track as well as the Behringer! The tracking goes off slightly and it sounds like a pigeon! XD

Alexander Wright Boss pitch shifter does this as well... which can be interesting but unfortunately not very predictible. sometimes you'd want it to glitch but it doesnt... vice versa.

I've noticed most of the Behringer Boss clones actually sound/work better than the Boss' they're based on. Good example is the Super Fuzz, it's a clone of the Hyper Fuzz, I actually got a real Hyper Fuzz and couldn't get the tones I could get with the $15 Behringer.

Thanks for the video... Can you tell me which you find better for tracking? It seemed to me that the boss had issues tracking a bit... am I wrong?
@AmbientJoe
@AmbientJoe 9 жыл бұрын
At points for me the behringer was far better, the boss has a warmer bass sounded and seemed fuller on the octave down. The drive and poly octaves are the same to me. Would be cheaper to buy the behringer and a metal case off eBay and rehouse the behringer into a metal casing. If you can find someone with some bills and such. Thanks for the comment.

Well,@@AmbientJoe CKY (short for camp kil yourself) is/was one of the best bands. They used an boss oc2 pedal together with distortion and with the genius songwriter and riffmachine that is Deron Miller they created a sound yet to be copied by any other band. I would suggest searching for cky - disengage the simulator. And you will soon discover one of the best band of all time. And the absolute best use of an octavepedal in music. Good luck, and have fun!

Boss says it is a "polyphonic octave” and the manual show a mode that works for chords. Does the Behringer do this? And thank you for not overdrives bass notes two octave below mercy like so many dumb people.

In the 'poly' mode you should have played some chords! That's the point of it..
@AmbientJoe
@AmbientJoe 5 жыл бұрын
Well poly is polyphonic my understand is it tracks and produces more then one sound base on whatever your playing. Chord or not but thanks for the comment, I no longer have either pedal do it's hard to try it, I have the sub and up. That tracks really well
@noesunyoutuber7680
@noesunyoutuber7680 2 жыл бұрын
@@AmbientJoe Just so no one else gets confused by this - a polyphonic octave pedal means it can track multiple notes at once and thus duplicate whole chords on the octave. It doesn't create polyphony, that's what a harmonizer does.
