Fighting and winning against these bosses in the first TEW only made me feel slightly relieved because I barely survived... Fighting and reducing to pulp these bosses in the second TEW made me feel like an unstoppable badass and the true nightmare inside the STEM... I love this franchise, is criminally underrated and amazingly done! I'm still hoping for TEW3 in the new generation of consoles

I seriously think that Theodore's powers was a bit more interesting than Stefano in a sense that he was actually able to use people's guilt as their weapons and he is able to change them mentally and physically.

@@tnecniw Also, the way sebastian easily deals with these bosses compared to how he dealt with them in the first game highlight how for all his self-proclaimed omniscience, Theodore only have a very shallow and surface-level understanding of these creatures (no way would a knife to the neck completely incapacitate the sadist of the first one (it wouldn't even bother him in fact: In the first one, at the beginning, once free, you have the option of taking advantage of your stealth to stab him in the neck in a similar fashion, but it barely phase him, and he then proceed to cut your head off with a hatchet for the earliest game-over possible) , and the Guardian doesn't take advantage of his ability to respawn where there are safe by killing himself to reappear closer to Sebastian)

Theodore was a bland and cliche villain, but his power to use the memories of Sebastian to torment and kill him is just cool. probably the only interesting aspect of this guy

The use of first game bosses might be considered a cop out, but I'll be damned if the atmosphere for this boss rush wasn't *amazing.*

Ordinarily, It would be a cop out, but here it works exceptionally well. Throughout the game Sebastian is suffers from PTSD with what happened in the first game. He needs to get past that to be able to grow as a character, and that's pretty much how this boss fight displays that change within him.

This boss fight legit blew me away! It would seriously be such a shame for someone to fight this boss without having played the first game. The impact of the fight would be completely lost on them.

unfortunately i played TEW2 before the first game (my brother offered me this game and apparently he haven't found the first game), and when i come to the Anima chase parts and then this fight, i was pretty confused by the memories of the hero, even if i knew a little the plot of the first game. but then finally i played TEW1 (which i liked too) , so i saw the circumstances where Sebastian met and fought these monsters, how he become a badass when he fight them again, and i had a weird but satisfying feeling. it's like a completed puzzle. i replay then TEW2 and i think i will soon have this impact. that was a surprising but still a nice surprise

Well, I think it’s supposed to represent the bosses that stayed in Sebastian’s mind the most and possibly ones that Theodore could physically imitate since he was the one getting burned when Sebastian defeated the illusion of Laura.

@@spenserfarman3045 Then it would make more sense for him to summon Zehn&Neun or that sewer monster from chapter 14. It makes 0 sense to summon sadist, as Sebastian already showed he is the alpha, not Sadist, same with Keeper, who you can kill over and over again for profit, only one that make sense is Laura, for obvious reasons.

It wasn't that way in the first game, there was just a tiny flesh monster grabbing your face trying to kill you, that would die if you kill the Keeper's body first... The last Keeper letting out Laura really shows they're not the actual charatchers back, but what Theodore sees of them from Sebastian's memories, and that's why they're weaker, only Sebastian truly knows how strong and durable those bosses were in TEW 1...

Seeing quite a few people that don't like this boss fight, but using similar points to explain why. You're entitled to your opinions of course, but I'm explaining why I found it so cool. Theodore was built up as a manipulator who used unresolved guilt to exploit people, he was never shown to be a fighter. Throughout the game we see Seb struggle with PTSD due to the first game. Sure, it's mostly resolved if you do the Anima missions but those are optional, plus, Theodore doesn't know about those. So when he tries to exploit Seb's PTSD, he's obviously shocked to see Seb literally beat the shit out of his PTSD demons. Plus the enemy tactics are a bit different than the first game. The Sadist is QTE, sure, but it sets the tone of the rest of the boss fight (that Seb will no longer run from his fears of the past, but will now overcome them). The Keepers don't throw traps but are much faster and aggressive to make up for it. Honestly idk about Laura tho, once I saw her I immediately brought out my flamethrower and disposed of her (didn't even bother with the vents).

+MegaMapper Why? What exactly is wrong with the fight. Throughout the whole game Theadore is hypes up as a mental manipulator, night a fighter. The fact that he forces Seb to dig up horrors from his past and fight them as his weapon was great in my opinion. Plus, The Keeper and Laura (Safehead man and Spider lady) both fight you incredibly differently here then they do in the first one. The Keeper is much faster and much more agressive then he was in the first, and laura is basically a puzzle boss needing you to stun her so you can activate a furnace to burn her alive. This fight really was great, both mechanically, and thematically.

+LeonomusPrime i think Æsir explained it i just want to add it's cheap way to make game longer in lazy way. Game budget is too low? use same creatures as bosses and later on as casual enemies! Game budget is fine but you are lazy? use same creatures as bosses and later on as casual enemies! In this case: use same bosses with same animations from previous game!

One again, it was a thematic thing "Why would Theadore make you fight monsters you already defeated." Because he believes he believes they are a part of Sebs fears and can be used to break him down, just like he kept trying to use his guilt for the loss of lily as a weapon. Was it partially fan service, sure I can agree with that, but at least they gave it a fair and reasonable.... well... reason. It's not like they just through the monster in there randomly. As for MegaMapper's comment, like I said, other then maybe the sadist, there was nothing lazy that went into redoing these bossfights, as the fights were completely changed up with new animations, new attack patterns, and several things like the Keepers speed and aggression being upped. It's just kind of disappointing that theming is confused with laziness so easily.

Of all The Evil Within antagonists, I think Theodore was the biggest pussy out of them all. Even though Ruvik's a bitch, he still had what it took to be a good villian. I actually liked Stefano (as a villian), he's so twisted and mysterious. Theodore literally just threw a bunch of enemies and sub-bosses at you just expecting you to give up while at the same time tormenting you every step of the way. Too bad we didn't get to fight him up front. Great games all around though.

It's not just a rehash of old fights. It shows how despite how intimidating Wallace is, he's little more than talk. And when he tries to defeat Sebastian by forcing him to face what he is afraid of most, it instead causes him to finally overcome his fears. As Sebastian said himself, "Enough of this shit!" He's not scared anymore, he's *PISSED*

I love how in the first game, all these monsters really scared the living shit out of him. But now, cause of his growth and overcoming his fears. He just deals with them like any ordinary monster. I love how he dealt with the chainsaw man, in the first game he tried running from it, but instead of running he fought back, and when he picked up the chainsaw you can tell just how ready he was about SAW that bastard in half.

Is it me, or isn't it rather coincidental that the keeper and Sebastian are in stem for the same reason? The keeper was in stem in the first game in the DLC to get his daughter back, seb is doing the exact same thing in the evil within 2. Crazy huh?

The Keeper is just a manifestation of the safe where Ruvik kept his research combined with his rage. The protagonist of The Executioner, Pedro Martin, was just given The Keeper's form by Mobius when he was sent in.

I just finished this boss fight today. From a narrative and character arc point of view it was amazing especially with the Chainsaw guy, because we only run from him in the first game and don't fight him head on and hence it brought closure. So that was just amazing, and the other 2 though not needed were still great as throwbacks and Seb overcoming his fears. Now, from a boss fight point of view as they traditionally tend to go down this is the second disappointing boss fight in the game out of 2. It wasn't really hard and did not use much ammo either. It was fairly easy and definitely easier than Stefano who himself was okay in terms of difficulty. But then again as some people have mentioned that Sebastian is the nightmare in STEM this time. Though I don't completely agree with that theory, I understand the perspective keeping the games events in mind. Whatever it is I have enjoyed the game on a whole so far out and I think it is definitely worth playing if you liked the first one and I can't wait to continue it tomorrow or the day-after.
