This team just clicked amazingly. From the "Big 3" of Ray Allen, Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett, 3 vets hungry for their first ring. To that bench of Posey, House, Powe and P.J Brown. To a young injury free Rajon Rondo and Kendrick Perkins. To a talented coaching staff in not only Doc, but Thibs, a huge factor in their defensive greatness as well. I can't help but think if only... If only KG didn't get injured in 2009. If only Perk was in Game 7 of 2010. If only Perk wasn't traded away in 2011 for Jeff Green...If only the team wasn't so injured that year If only Danny Ainge kept the core 5 of Rondo, Ray, Paul, KG and Perk together for just one more year... Sigh...

I was so happy for Pierce, KG, and Ray to finally won a ring. We have lots depth pieces too. My guys Eddie House and James Posey were killers in that series. Powe had that great game 2. @@taygoated313 Just depends on whose rules were in play - 86 C's couldnt beat them with 2017 rules, but I think the reverse is just as true; Boston's front court would brutalize the Warriors, who dont have anything close to an answer for Parish or McHale. Bird would chew Durant up. And while Curry is pretty undeniable, I dont think Curry/Thompson is much better than Johnson/Ainge, if at all. C's could pound it, and they could run, and I dont think the Warriors could play sufficient defense for their perimeter offense to make up the difference.

As a die hard Lakers millennial fan, this was the hardest most heartbreaking game to ever watch. It took me 15 years to watch the highlights of this game, I now have to share my thoughts. After Kobe’s death, getting older, and appreciating the legends like Pau, KG, Pierce and Odom I can now put my sports feelings aside and just appreciate the grit and toughness the Celtics brought during this game. Posey was the prototype 3&D guy and really spurred back the Celtics. This was also the first game I’ve ever seen where Phil had no answer. Just a masterclass defensive performance by the Cs. Of course it doesn’t hurt that I watched game 7 2010 highlights right before this.😂 I loved this era of basketball, it was the perfect mix of the slow pace era and the run and gun positionless basketball now. Thank god we got them back in 2010, that makes it hurt just a little less!!!

As a C's fan all my life and having been born around the turn of the century, the Celtics-Lakers rivalry was an object of legend to me as a little kid. My dad really imparted the history in me, being from the Bird-Magic era. I remember jumping up and down when we won in 2008 and being devastated when we lost in 2010. It's honestly a shame that we haven't seen a Finals against each other since, despite both having been consistent title contenders in recent years. Of all the teams I have watched since '08, this is (in my opinion) by far the best shot my C's have at winning 18. I suffered through so many "just good enough to get beaten by Lebron in the playoffs", "what if so-and-so wasn't injured", and "next year is our year" seasons growing up. But this year is different. Rewatching the seasons the Celtics played the Lakers in the Finals is nostalgic like nothing else. It's more than basketball. I want to see a ring on Tatum's finger regardless of who we play, but there's no one I'd rather face in the Finals (if we get there) than the Lakers.

Agree on all points. 2010 was the true rematch, too bad we didn't get something similar in 2009. It would have been interesting to see how the Finals would have gone if Shaq hadn't gotten injured. The Celtics were something ridiculous like 20 - 2 before the injury.

***** Like someone said, Posey wanted a bigger contract. He was good but he was not worth that much. Also, Posey wanted to go to a younger team. And besides, Posey sucked after he got that contract. He got fatter and lazier. Ainge actually made the right decision ehre. And Powe's knees are as fragile as Derrick Rose's. What has Powe done since he left the Celtics? And how many games has he played since he left? Hell, he's only 30 years old right now and he has been out of the league since 2012. I think that Celtic team deserved at least 1 more championship, maybe the one in 2009 when they lost in the Eastern conference finals to the Magic, and definately in 2010 when they took the lakers to a game 7 without Perkins. That Celtic team was just too good to have only won 1 in my opinion. It should have been a 3-peat 2008 to 2010. Shoulda coulda woulda.... I'm going to go there: I think Doc Rivers could have done better to get them one more championship, although some of you may think that Rivers is the only reason we won in 2008 to begin with.

Lakers fans always point to the Finals two years later and feel they got one up on the C's. But the Celtics fought like men and were 4 pts shy in a Game 7. I'll take that. The memory of the 2008 Finals is so much sweeter. This comeback. The Game 6 smackdown. Celtics lose like men, but win like giants.

Posey reminds me of Horry. Great 3 and D guy, not afraid of the moment, steps it up in the playoffs. Role players/veterans like them are so valuable to teams. The term "role player" sometimes carries a negative stigma, but never underestimate a player who performs his role exceptionally well like James Posey did.
