@@modebeamaka2481 I've attended the place. All the glitter isn't gold. I can honestly tell you going there was a mistake for me and awful experience. I'm not alone and can name multiple graduates who would support such a notion.

What did it look like in the 80s-90s? Based on the tour, it looks lovely now but I’m sad about how much our physical environment is degrading everywhere.

@@amysill3815 It's kinda hard to explain but it was really gorgeous back then. There was a HUGE quad near the main Dining Hall. The Dining Hall was called McElroy, and it was really awesome!! Near the main dining area was a little cafe called Sweets and Treats. It kicked ass. You could get pastries, coffee, frozen yogurt and other such things. Tons of people used to sit in the quad. One guy I knew back then even sold flowers there.

His name was Rich. I used to sit with him and someone else while he was selling the flowers.

Please elaborate. We are looking into this college for my daughter and I see these negative comments sprinkled throughout but no one gives any useful details.

@@amysill3815 The school grossly exaggerates its successes. As an example no presidents, billionaires, Nobel prize winners etc ever graduated from there. The school has to many core curriculum classes many in subjects neither easy nor useful. The tuition is to much. I can discuss further

No. The curriculum is not faith-based or focused on religion. However, there is clearly some attention given to preparing for a career with the understanding of ethical and honest dealings with others. As everywhere, I assume, there's the opportunity to practice one's faith to the extent that each person wants to do. (observations from a Golden Eagle!)

I graduated in 1972. I had an absolute blast! People who get hung up on Ivies do themselves a disservice . A school like BC or peers like Wake Forest or Duke can deliver a better experience with the same professional opportunities. Life on a suburban campus is more laid back. If you can demonstrate need, you are nearly guaranteed to have no $tress! Go for it!

I can honestly say there is doubt in my mind. I graduated from the college and while I ultimately did well for myself the schooling was laughable and the environment was poorly conducive to the objective of learning. Much of the curriculum was irrelevant and overall I think if held to the scrutiny it should it'd come up empty handed. Take for example alumni - unlike Harvard which you compared it to, there are no former President alumni, no secretary of states, no noble laureates, no billionaires and really no one all that important. Its endowment has been flat for a decade despite an inflationary and generally favorable investment market (2008-2023). I felt the education was very much lacking by an insistence on learning utterly worthless things to the distraction of useful subjects. I regret going there and it was a mistake.
