Boston all the way! I own that exact same model, best piano (for its size and price range) I've ever owned or ever played!! The absolute BEST!

Wow the Essex sounds surprisingly pretty! The Boston sounds just like the old KG series Kawai.

Yes -- we think the Essex is surprisingly pretty as well, however I would absolutely challenge that old KG series comparison, though!! :) ... Have a video you recommend to compare?

@@pianocentre it's from my experience playing them in person. However, certain Bostons definitely do sound amazing, especially in the hands of such exceptional pianist as Leif Ove Andsnes; kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rs-PibR7l7LOYYE.html

I have an Essex EGP-155 grand piano, it sounds incredible even as a baby grand

@@theadventureinsider Every time we receive a new EGP155 in store , we're delightfully surprised. The performance from such a small grand piano seems impossible - The sustain and presence are impressive! Keep the music playing :)

The first piano sounds clean and soft, but not crystal clean like a Steinway, nor soft to the point of being mellow like a Blüthner (some people might call it muffled). It has a tad bit of richness to the sound. Like it's a young child trying to figure out where it belongs in the world, its personality, trying to learn the truth about itself. The second piano sounds louder, almost sharp like a Yamaha, but less aggressive. It feels a tad bit more on the rich side, and less on the soft one. Some level of cleanness, but less than the first one. It also feels like a young kid seeking to set itself durably in a world in which everyone else already have a place. But unlike the first one, it isn't shy, and is throwing itself into the mass to impose itself.

Even though the Boston pianos are supposed to be at a conservatory level, and are made by Kawai, I somehow prefer the Chinese made Essex which has a much warmer tone. It may just be where they were recorded.

I have the same exact Essex model, and it sounds a lot different than the one here and even the one I heard in the Scottsdale AZ showroom. Mine is noticeably brighter than what you see in newer ones I guess.

Boxill-Harris why couldn't you Try Remaking A Daddy Grand Piano by putting on 88 Tuning Forks like what you did on an Upright Piano, Please do the Same Thing on a Daddy Grand Piano For Most of us KZfaqrs, It will be a much Better Idea For us so we can Try and See and Hear Pianos with 88 Tuning Forks inside Thank You.

@@KyleHohn Don't mind that one. I keep seeing that same comment copy-pasted everywhere, even though it should be concerning only the channel of a guy named "Matthias", who made some strange pianos (replacing the strings with guitar string and fishing line, replacing hammers with tuning forks, etc.).

Will not buy both Boston & Essex. Some people brand them a poor man Steinway. If u can't afford Steinway, go for Yamaha/Kawai.

Well, it depends for the kind of "voice" you want your piano to have. Yamha pianos feel very sharp like breaking glass. Kawai is... special. I haven't heard one in a while, but it sounded like it wanted to be warm without being actually warm. These brands sound like they have "some" personality. They're different enough that I don't remember hearing the same "voice" on other brands, but not as crystal clean as a Steinway (even if they're not my favourite, their piano mostly have a pure tone to it).

I have the same Essex grand, and my next grand piano will be a Boston grand. It's really good for the price

Poor person here. I am the Boston demographic. The new shape really makes it sound much better than they used to.
