Can someone please explain to me what a medicine match day is? I’m a medical student in the UK and have 0 idea

Shanina Juan I think it’s when the graduate students get their residency and get to work in the USA for a while
@nancykichin90894 жыл бұрын
Match day is a huge deal for a USA med student. Seniors announce what residency programs they have matched into, its their 1st job as a physician post med school
@shaninajuan6814 жыл бұрын
nancy kichin ohh thank you, do they get to choose where they want to go, like top 3 options, or is based on rankings?
@oliverarchibald83094 жыл бұрын
Senior medical students rank the training programs that they are interested in joining ( you can rank up to 100 program I believe). The programs rank the medical students they are interested in. Training programs require an interview. Neither student nor training program as aware of respective rank order list. National Residency Matching Program then use computerized formula to see where you end up.

@alihafez19203 жыл бұрын
When medical students finish their 4-5 years of rigorous learning they have to match into a residency to do their 3-8 years of training as a resident doctor.

What is a match day
@p.c61754 жыл бұрын
A match day is when Med students (last years) find out what hospital they are going to do their residency at after they graduate and its a big deal cause they are most likely to carry out the rest of their carriers there and if not its still a big deal cause residencies can be 3-7 years of your life

@Madison Daily wtf kind of thinking is that. There students outside of America who are far smarter but have limited opportunities because of the country and the environment they grew up in. I have a bro who got invited by Harvard from Nepal to do phd in biomedical imaging because of his academic capabilities, full scholarship. So the point that you're making should not be taken into account at all. University is a very diverse place, it would be very unethical if it favoured certain students more because they were born in that country.
@sirRustyiron4 жыл бұрын
@Madison Daily stfu you piece of trash, you seriously think for a sec, that stating your fked up views and thoughts in the comment section is going to make any difference. I'm coming to your country next year to study for my masters in compsci at MIT and you ain't gonna do fk all to stop me. I'm not gonna waste my time debating and trying to explain things to you since, your 1 brain cell is gonna have difficult time, understanding anything I say. Let make it clear to you in simple english, what you say or think is going to change absolutely nothing!
