Have seen 10-12y old kids doing that for fun, before tournament starts and everyone chats around. None of them reached master level to my knowledge. That time they were my level, cat at players best.

its sad because white doesnt really play for an advantage. at a beginner level “playing for an advantage” is not blundering all your pieces. london is solid, with simple plans and quick development

It's taught because its very straight forward. There are not a ton of crazy lines to memorize. Just essentially the same 8 opening moves.
