You know it's going to be a good day if it starts with a shirtless Barney Bob ! As if to answer the majestic morning sight of a scantily-clothed human relic from a bygone era of awesome rock music & general badassery, the gloppy tops start flying from the ground almost immediately thereafter in this exciting episode ! And i'm talking about a real-life BOTT OVERLOAD. And these aren't some crappy, barely-tooled botts either - no; we're talking about some serious old western age cream heaviness...rock on !

They actually burned people's belongings that were infectious. Then it was buried. Speaking of snake oil. When you go into the the starting background of big pharma companies they started out as snake oil companies. During WWII Bayer manufactured xyclon B. It was the gas used in the "showers". Great finds! Awesome video.

We all love the long video's Neddy boy. 3 privies and a sick room trash pit. Wow!! How exciting. And to top it all off an environmental clean up and schooling. How delicious. 🤤

You haven't seen a dug rug until you unravel a pea green shag with shovel. There's a unique Hilo Owl Drug.the wire heart might have been an armature for paper or live flowers. Wash that comb out & use it! Sift that dirt!! Was that Spanish stoneware? All I see is British around here. Napoleon III on that shave mug? My sifters are still for sale in American Digger. That rake-tines up-watch it. I've been to Vichy, neat place. Waters and pastilles, candy made of the mineral salts in the water. That''s a good old soda siphon, I now have a high quality small collection of Hawaiian ones. Was looking for an Ewa Plantation Soda Co. one the other day. Few scattered Hutch frags.

Ned, Thanks for the longer video, I really enjoyed it. It is so cool that the trash you find from digging can tell a story about the people that once lived there. The bottles of color were amazing, were you able to tell what was inside the clear marble? How are you able to tell the different types of glass? Since you mention flint glass. Thank you for taking us along your journey of saving history. I love the owl drug bottles . I had no idea the Owl Drug Co. manufactured so many different types of bottles, I thought they were just a medicine co. I wished I lived in Cali just to have an opportunity to dig with you. Take care Ned and stay safe. 🎄Merry Christmas🎅

Thanks Deb! Yes - I think the coolest part of about digging up old trash are the stories that it tells, and i'm thankful for the opportunities I get to share these lost stories with everyone & educate ppl on the ordinary, everyday history of the old west. There was a sulfide lion in the middle of the cracked marble :) Merry Christmas

I'm pretty sure that the circular pyramidal shaped bottle (which kinda looks like an ink bottle),is a an old mentholatum bottle that screws into a metal vaporizer infuser.

We would go and dig these sites, knowing full well that excavortors were coming. And they would chase us out! Why! so everything could be destroyed. To what end. Save some history.

Hi Tamara ! Our crew members are all covered under one insurance cert so for now I can’t bring ppl on these sites for liability reasons but maybe someday when I can get some funding for this or whatever & then ppl could tag along for educational purposes ! At least that’s my idea. For now I’m trying my best to bring everyone along by filming these digs! Glad you’re enjoying them!

I love the digging posts and the cool western stuff you find but mute the conversation. The profanity offends me and it shows definite immaturity but bang on! This is only me talking but I am a western digger and collector who was bitten by the bottle bug in 1965. Western bottles rule!

Are you suggesting diggers should keep every broken piece they find? Do you want a sample of the dirt? Should I keep the seeds I dig in privies? Come on now...
@BottleNed
@BottleNed 2 жыл бұрын
In archeology, all things contained within a site, broken or whole, are analyzed & recorded so as to paint a picture of what happened on the site. To keep every little fragment would require a warehouse, and sadly, most everything on sites where soil is being disturbed ends up crushed in a landfill unless it is discovered by someone, & preferably documented, which is one of the things I’m trying to do in these videos. All trash tells a story ! And I want the stories of our past to live on !!
