In the beginning use just one paracord sling for all five for the first week or two. After that the knot will be locked solid in your muscle memory. If you just rig up five all at once and don't use it again for awhile you might forget how to tie it and have to relearn in all over again later.

I have 3 of these attached to my camp chairs…. I have two of them tied up with enough line that when the line is fully extended out with the sling part still In The middle of the lines, i can place my heels in the center of the sling and have a ready made foot rest! The last time I was camping with my scouts, I had a couple of the adults, who also have kids in the troop, studying my "contraption." I picked up my water bottle which also had the same "contraption" as someone kept calling it, and tossed it to them. I told them it was the exact same sling that was on the water bottle, just a lost more line. When asked how I came up with the idea, I told them that I had one of the best teachers money could buy for the low low price of $3 a month, Tim from Weavers of Eternity! Although you didn’t actually teach me how to tie this specific water bottle sling, until today when I watched this video ! lol 😝 I actually used the Diamond knot without completing the last two steps of tying it completely, to make the sling/foot rest! I have to say that the saying, "Necessity is the mother of all inventions," is definitely accurate!!! :) I wanted to be able to put my feet up when sitting in my oversized camp chair as well as attach my water bottle to the chair when it’s not being carried while hiking or just walking around the camp grounds. When I was making the water bottle sling, I was actually sitting in that camp chair and wishing I had a way to put my feet up. As I was putting the water bottle into the sling, all of the sudden a light bulb burned brightly in my mind's eye as I thought, "I wonder if I could use this attached to the chair to put my feet in?" So, I got up and went to my bag and pulled out one of the 4 brand new hundred foot hanks of cord I brought with me to make tree straps for the hammocks. (Side note) We are not allowed to use just a single line of Paracord wrapped around trees to tie up hammocks. The single lines can badly damage the trees by cutting into the bark. So, we have to use either safety straps or straps that are a minimum of 1 inch in width. I use a king cobra weave attached to two heavy duty climbing O-rings that can withstand up to 500lbs each to make my tree straps. Anyway, after getting the cord, I proceeded to make another "water bottle sling" but made it with about 2 1/2 - 3 feet of line on both sides of the center water bottle sling knot. After connecting the ends of the two cord pieces together, then I attached it to the chair. Waaa Laaa! Foot rests!!! :)

Nice, Ive done somethng similar with about 12ft of rope. Leaving the loop side free, add a Chain Sinnet (aka Monkey Braid) in the middle, connect ends with Double Fisherman's Knot. The longer length, with the Chain Sinnet creates a shoulder strap for independent carry/canteen.

Nice! Any advice on cord length if I’d like to use the handle as an over the shoulder/crossbody sling!?! I think if I add smthg at the bottom I could loop it over my shoulder, crossbody position, then secure around my waist for a chill beach jog or more aggressive hike!
@TheWeaversofEternity
@TheWeaversofEternity 3 жыл бұрын
Hard to say as it would depend on how big or small of a person you are and also how you want it to hang. You can always just wrap a piece of cord around yourself across your body to estimate then add a little for the bottle sling knot part.

Sazy Plew - A full Nalgene bottle weighs over two pounds. Single strand load bearing paracord run crossbody or over the shoulder tends to dig in and get really uncomfortable. I would suggest a separate cross body sling/strap attached to the bottle sling with carabiners. I'm certain The Weavers have plenty of ideas how to make a braided strap. Or you can cheat and just buy a loose strap for a messenger/duffle bag at a thrift store.

@originalBongoCat

I call shenanigans on the first part of this video. The 1st and 2nd methods are not the same knot. In the first method you made the "easy" bottle sling, ending with the top inner loops laying on the back side of the top handle, and the bottom inner loops laying on the front of the bottom handle. This is not as secure as the "true" bottle sling knot. The video cuts out where the top and bottom handles were weaved through their respective loops so that each handle lay BETWEEN the loops. Doing that last weaving step makes it identical in all respects to the true bottle (or jug) sling knot which you demonstrated in the 2nd method.

Hey there, I apologize if this one was a bit too fast to follow. When I'm editing and making videos these days I have to keep the runtime down to a minimum as I've noticed that longer videos tend to not get clicked on. So it's a tough balancing act sometimes. But I'll keep that in mind for future ones so that I explain them clearly. Thanks for the feedback!
