No dude. Its a calculation simple. Vijay fans expectations are always reaching high levels after each film. He does this low flair films in between to lower the expectations. After Kaththi and theri he does PULI, again in btwn he does bairava, now again with Lokesh. I feel its a conscious decision he takes.

When Ajith did a cop film with heroine dying (Yennai Arindhalll, 2015) ...Vijay too did a same template cop film with heroine dying (Theri, 2016)..!! Similarly this year Ajith started out a trend with NKP , a mass hero in a women based court room drama..!! So Vijay also did a women based content Bigil ..a mass hero blended into women sports drama.. Ennoda kelvi ithu than ...why Bigil padatha ipo edukanum en oru two years munnadi try panni irukkalame??? Ajith oru women Ku movie edutha, Vijay also tries to do parallely ... This pattern I noticed in last decade ass well..when Billa(2008) released Ajith created a trend of coat suit with Billa, wearing suits in every scene of the film..The next year you can see Vijay wearing suits for most of the scenes in Villu(2009)..oru Citizen vantha Thamizhan varuthu..If Ajith transforms into action hero in Dheena, Vijay transforms into action hero in Bhagavathi...ithuku peru enna solrathunu therla..!! Dev should have been trimmed to 2 hours, last 30 minutes was completely wasted and unwanted for the movie. Also NGK felt half baked movie as was neither a Selvaraghavan Movie nor Surya Movie. Kaappaan was the weakest film done by KV Anand. No emotional connect for any characters or happenings in the movie. Mohan Lal wasted. Action was underwhelming and no big moments in the movie which took the audiences into the movie.

Didn't expect to see Uriyadi 2 here... The audience response was too good for that movie even the making of the movie... I was disappointed that how bad they have taken Bhopal movie in hindi as it didn't give the impact it is supposed to be.. but Vijay gave it better and also given solution to introduce app to measure air quality and all... Just because it has hero worshiping it doesn't mean it's a bad movie
