Wasn't there an episode where he mentioned switching parties depending on which would leave him better off? The selfish bastard! Or B'stard should I say. The episode Fatal Extraction does make me wonder if the ending was ab-libed. Every time someone calls Alan a bastard, he corrects them with "It's B'stard". But at the end of Fatal Extraction we instead get: Chief Whip: "You Bastard!" Alan: "Yes Minister!" Was "Yes Minister" in the script, I wonder? Or did Rik decide to change the ending during the audience recording and said it on the spot?

Every time I rewatch the live shows there are more jokes I finally get. Been watching them since I was 8 or something so for a long time there was a lot I missed. Saw them live in 2005 I think it was, Weapons Grade Y Fronts. Never knew it was gonna be the last one. One of the greatest comedy duos of all time, Rik and Ade.

One thing (out of many) that keeps me coming back to this bottom love is the secret Japanese bunker mistake. It's BRILLIANT 😂. Rik laughing and Ade trying to make something up and the way Ade incorporates Rik's laughing into the cover up is amazing.

I was lucky to have older brothers who were teens when I was born, who would let me watch Bottom and The Young Ones when they babysat me (a great secret that i wasn't allowed to tell my mother, but my dad would be fine about!). I'm now 37 with kids of my own, and I've raised them to enjoy Rik and Ade. We also like 10 minute drive from The Kebab and Calculator pub (Im actually not sure what the pub's real name is😂)
