Pretty sure Josie’s monologue towards the start of the movie about her running away with the pastor was improvised by Ayo Edebiri, she’s a comedy genius. Also her real life dad’s review of this movie on his Letterboxd is very cute. “Bottoms, starring Rachel Sennott (PJ) and Ayo Edebiri (Josie), is directed by Emma Seligman. It is one of the best comedy I have seen all year. In the interest of self disclosure, Ayo is my daughter. PJ and Josie are two lesbians who decides to start a fight club, so that they can attract pretty cheerleaders. With the football game against a long term rival in the background, the comedy just keeps coming until the end. Get your popcorn ready, you will love it.” Also Shiva Baby is director Emma Seligman’s first feature and collaboration with Rachel Sennott (PJ in Bottoms), it’s intense, darkly funny and really good, would recommend you check it out.

The absolute best part of reactions to this film are the slow realization of the tone they went for. Genius.

The layers of this film are amazing. It’s a legit raunchy “teen” comedy for lesbians but is also a parody of raunchy teen comedies (complete with teens mostly played by significantly older actors) AND makes fun of how people react to teen comedies (like the music getting you to think a scene is dramatic when it’s just Josie describing The Hunger Games). The parody of patriarchal heteronormativity mixed in is just the icing on top. It’s just brilliant.

Marshawn Lynch was a professional football player. He took the role in the film as part of a way to make up for the fact that he didn’t handle his sister coming out as queer well. Also, it’s a fun fan theory Brittany is a closeted bisexual/still confused about her sexuality. Along with the liking gay porn comment, many people think Brittany subconsciously likes Isabel, hence why she’s attached to her to the hip. Really love this film. Glad you enjoyed it too!

please give "but im a cheerleader" a chance, its a classic ironic comedy satire from 1999, way ahead of its time!! its my favourite movies of all time there are some reactions to it on youtube but not from any reaction channel i watch i think you would enjoy it alot more because the humour is more relatable and less gen zish than this one

This one is great! I really love the humor and absurdity of this movie and how it just keeps getting more insane at every turn. Also as a gender ambiguous bisexual (felt fancier than just saying nonbinary) I have a huge crush on Hazel. She kinda carries the whole plot with her inability to understand sarcasm if you think about it, she is responsible/crucial for almost all the major plot points, so love that

This movie is goofy, but in such a good way. It just shows you that you can have a bunch of random scenes to make a film as long as you have emotional connective threads .

Another comment recommended Bodies Bodies Bodies which is sort of a horror/thriller comedy/satire. It has Rachel Sennott (PJ from this movie) and also stars Amandla Stenberg and it’s genuinely one of my favorite movies ever. It’s so creative and funny and eerie and smart and I genuinely just think you’d have an amazing time. The acting is so real and raw and if it wasn’t for the professional look of the movie, you’d think it was all just a real group of people going through this situation. Can’t recommend it enough.
