Rachel Sennott is a comedic genius. So naturally funny but also grounds her characters well and makes them believable.

I enjoyed Bottoms too, i fall for this come of age films. Margaret and Mitzvah are also cute. Though I'm waiting for a shake up in comedies and comedic hybrids with the Fall fests, because besides Barbie, nothing has made me laugh much this year. At least not as much as The Favorite, Parasite, Tar and EEAAO made me laugh (dont worry, I also cried in all of these four. I love comedies with a touch of acid or of deep drama) Looking forward to Poor Things at NYFF and Next Goal Wins, Quiz Lady and Toll at TIFF. Also, from the trailer, I think Rustin might be a little on the fun side of things

looking forward to this one my favorite comedies this year so far are Rye Lane and Are You There God, Its Me Margaret. Oh, and Barbie (saw Bat Mitzvah last week, and thought it was not good at all. tender, but not good.)

Rye Lane is coming for the Bafta's! Barbie is a cute bop. I'd give the five songs slots to it, and basically all the crafts Are You There God is still on my watchlist. You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah is not bad, just kinda meh. I think the lead girl is beautiful

Bat Mitzvah kind of sucked. Had a bad start, got slightly better but I didn’t care about the main character and everyone felt like an annoying privileged rich person A recent comedy I actually enjoyed: Strays. Broad comedy for sure, but it works and some of the gags really paid off. Trust Luke Hearfield!

It is an MGM/Orion film so if Warner has an office in your country, Warner will release it in your country (but probably late and on a small scale).

I didn’t think it was great despite great reviews. If it was actually great it would not flopped at the box office like that - it obviously lacked word of mouth. I loved the WAP scene though.

In the same vein as other queer coming of age comedies like "But I'm a Cheerleader" (1999 ) or "Camp" (2003), our pair of lead characters "PJ" (Rachel Sennott) and "Josie" (Ayo Edebiri) are a pair of 'untalented' lesbian virgins who, after a misunderstanding involving the star football player "Jeff" (Nicholas Galitzine), create a f̶i̶g̶h̶t̶ ̶c̶l̶u̶b̶ Female Self Defense Club which they see as a chance to get close to their long time crushes "Brittany" (Kaia Gerber) and "Isabel" (Havana Rose Liu). Female empowerment ensues, with hilarious outcomes. It feels like a hyper-fantasy-retelling of a story from your childhood. As if "Josie" is retelling the story of the craziest year in high school to her children, 20 years later! You get some background details wrong, over exaggerate the personalities of yourself, and especially your enemies. For me the shining star in this film was the character "Hazel Callahan" (Ruby Cruz), one of the few characters to have a last name in this movie, while she may have been a sidekick character, she is the lynchpin for this group of misunderstood girls. I think the cast knew exactly what kind of movie they were making, and they played into the comedy aspect, and that made it even more enjoyable. This movie was sadly NOT marketed, I stumbled upon a trailer about 2 weeks ago and that was it, no trailer at the movies, no posters, no collector cups, nothing! It's so sad to see great queer projects get shelved when it come to marketing! So go see it in the theater, talk about it online, let Hollywood know that we want good original content rather than rehashing the same franchise for 9 forgettable sequels...

I saw this movie yesterday, September 3. I have to say I thought it was terrible. The thing is, I wanted to like it. The idea of twisting the teen sex comedy on its head by having two lesbians play the main characters is a really good one. But, it's very poorly written and very poorly directed. The dialogue isn't witty or funny, the scenes are cut and pasted in and the ancillary characters are just cardboard cut-outs. I think their idea presented so many opportunities for hilarious and insightful scenes and they missed every one. If you would've presented the premise for this movie to Tina Fey, Amy Schumer, Sarah Silverman, or Tig Navarro they would've made a movie 10 times funnier and with more insight and with more heart than this disappointment.
