such a blessing to have such an easy access to high quality chess explanations. What a likable show by GM Yasser Seirawan. Baadur Jobava recommanded to study the games of Botvinnik and the classics in general.

Great stuff! I read Yasser's book on chess openings back in 2000 (KIA is still one of my preferred openings along with Pirc). I've played chess off and on last 15 years and recently discovered these videos. So nice to actually watch him teach. It's like meeting a friend or a teacher after a long time.

This was the first world championship draw (at regular time controls), later repeated by Carlsen-Karjakin, Carlsen-Caruana and Nepo-Ding

One of the saddest moments of chess to me was how David Broinstein lost that WC. The soviets just tried to put everything against Bronstein to keep the Botvinnik's reign, and although barely, Bronstein lost. He was an amazing player and imo he deserved that WC title.

At the end what if white played rook f4 check

Evaluation jumps with Stockfish 13 from -1.5 to +1.3 when black plays 14. ... Ba7. That means that while black was a rook down, his positional advantage was much greater. It happens from time to time that your opponent blunders a piece but then he has all the easy moves while you have to untangle. Bronsteins defense to 15. b6 with 15. ... Bxa4 was bad as well- the evaluation drops to + 3.6. Much better was 15. ... cxb6 16. Nxb6 Bxb6 17. Qxb6 a5 and black isn't completely lost. It's very interesting that Botvinnik managed to get a losing position vs the dutch in 14 moves though. That's the real howler imo.

At twenty minutes into your tape, what wrong with Ra8. You attacking the White's Queen and controlling the "A" file.

+Edward Schweikert it doesn't create white's Queen such problems. After Ra8, white will play Qd3 placing Queen to the center and wanting to trade Queens and Rook on a8 is not any threat to white's position. Actually rook is more useful on "F" file. After trade of Queens white has a piece for pawn and it's decisive advantage. So, rook to a8 is losing tempo, f5-f4 is more aggressive and creates weakness in black's position.

Yasser is a superb chess lecturer and a great player... but he keeps mispronouncing names. Even the names of the world chess champions! It's not Max Erwe, it's Max Euwe which is pronounced like Oi-veh (not oy-vey, though, lol)
