We hunt in some of the most rugged terrain in the world and in some cases for species the take 20+ years to even obtain a hunting license. We have studied ballistics in long range applications for years and have developed a custom rifle with custom ammunition and optics that we designed. In these hunting conditions, long range opportunities will undoubtedly present themselves and our equipment gives us the confidence to make these shots. Not all shots are perfect (none are regardless of the range), but they are effective. Most meat harvested on these hunts are donated to local food charities for those in need. Some of the best protein available.

The hate is sad to see, God forbid someone that's ragging on you miss a shot at close range, you know, like what happens all of the time. Good shooting.

Nothing new under the sun. Nothing special about guns or ammo. I’ll shoot prairie dogs all day out there but big game seems wrong to risk any movement and maim a beautiful animal to die a cruel death.

wolram lilly I am with you in that point....really stupid this type of shooting on deer or big game....don’t know who wants to hunt on that distance when it’s more of a hunting experience when you can crawl into the spot on a distance of 100 meters....what is shown in the video is no hunting at all....

I've watched this clip start to finish at least a dozen times. Neither the shots (which are great) nor the triggered "I'm a hunter but I'd never" comments (which are equally as fantastic) ever fail to bring a smile to my face hahaha. Great clip

i enjoyed the video and i am a hunter myself (close range) i see people in the comments section talking about where the shot lands (this is my opinion) sometimes i shoot from 50 yards and dont hit the animal directly where i was aiming, there are a lot of factors to consider, the biggest one being me accidently jerking the trigger. i know some people try to spine shot (i don't agree with) but others hit it on accedent when trying for another position on the deer. i couldn't imagine how the slightest error would mess up a shot.

I don't understand why people are against long range shots. Its just a different challenge and a different hunt if you ask me. This takes tremendous skill, just like tracking and stalking an animal for a close range kill. I am SURE these guys are capable of getting within a few yards of whatever it is they are hunting, they just chose not to. I am impressed, good shooting!

Those shots are incredibly hard, but the first one going up hill with nothing behind the animal could have been bad if it had been missed
@t3jem2 жыл бұрын
Even without missing of the bullet travels through the animal and continues it's still really bad. You should never take a silhouette shot like that.

I have been hunting 40 years and I do not consider this hunting. I have guns that shoot 1000 yards plus but I have yet to ever shoot at a animal over 350 and I never will. I would never take a chance on wounding and losing a animal. There are to many variable that come into play when shooting 500 plus yards.
@Darcechoke10009 жыл бұрын

I have guns that can shoot 7+ miles, does not mean I can hit them at that range. The gun does not make the shot, the persons skill and knowledge of the weapon system is what makes the shot, the gun is nothing more than a tool. As far as to many variables at a whopping 500 yards, really? I shoot bottle caps off 20oz soda's at that range, that is nothing for someone who knows their firearm/weapon system... all depends on the person and their skill level.

@Organoutdoors11 жыл бұрын
I agree. In a lot of these hunts/videos. The guide or whoever, hands the hunter the rifle, they dial it up and take the shot. Now, on these videos we see the kill shot and that is great. However, when the shooter stands up and tells us that they have never shot that far before...that's not good. This stuff has to be practiced, to many variables to have people who haven't done it before try to do it for the first time on a hunt.

That Elk at 890 Yds!!! Wow! What round had that much steam at 890yds?! 338 Lapua? I can't imagine a 300 Win Mag (most common, usual elk gun) would have that much energy left at 890yds.
@pheelmacababe28618 жыл бұрын
those distances are amazing, and don't worry about the hate comments, I study Buddhism and am a very peaceful person but if you hunt with the intent to consume the meat or donate to those who will consume the meat its all for the good. people forget about the thousands of cows and chickens that are treated inhumanely on slaughter ranches before they make their way to your plate, hunting like this is good for all, most of these kills were beautiful shots

@eben33559 жыл бұрын
I hunt alot, but would never take a shot like this. I've always hunted with the mindset if I kill it I will eat every bit of it. Some of these shots are spine shots, which are non lethal and unethical. You also ruin the back strap which on a bull elk, or bear is alot of meat. These guys are obviously trophy hunters and from the looks of it the meat is the last thing they're worried about. Why else would you shoot an animal uphill and watch it roll a thousand yards. Hunters get a bad reputation, if you want to watch someone who is responsible and is very ethical I recommend watching Steven Rinella. Look up Meateater, and you'll see what real hunting is about.
@SkyblueMew9 жыл бұрын
I agree with you on everything, except spine shots. Spine shots ARE lethal, they drop the animal in a second. Dead instantly.
@itsDarrell9 жыл бұрын
Jamie(SkyblueMew) Paralyzed instantly yes, but not dead. They slowly bleed to death.

I go for the neck on white tails, I have watched most drop right in their tracks, dead as a stone. Where as lung and heart shots can go bad with small or high caliber rounds, seen a lot of meat wasted that way, wounded animals, and bad tasting, adrenaline filled meat. On does at close range with a heavy bullet headshots are also a viable option, 0% loss, instant kill.
@creekfishers27399 жыл бұрын
These guys are pulling off amazing humane shots, your judgement that they are only hunting for sport is completely baseless and opinionated. This is 110% hunting, get over it.

I must admit these are some amazing shots, well done. However, I grew up being taught that you only take a shot you are 100% sure will kill. I am from South Africa and we pay farmers to hunt their land. You wound you pay. Apart form the pay, I don't want to leave a wounded animal in the bush. I am proud to say I never have left one. The time it takes the bullet to reach the animal is a few seconds. What is the chance that the animal walks a yard forward and you give it a gut shot. How do you follow up an animal you have shot at that distance with a valley between you and it. I am sure there are plenty video of shots that did not kill. Again good shooting on the shots on this clip, but I wont have taken them. Everyone to their own.

I understand the trophy side of the hunt but I'm curious to know how much meat is slavagable after a long tumble down a hillside? I have no objection to hunting only wastage. Also is there a problem with meat tenderness organ shooting in preference to head shooting? Cheers.

What you people don't understand is that these rounds and equipment these guys are using makes 600 yard shots as easy as 200 yard shots with your average hunting rifle/round you would buy at Walmart or Big 5. The rounds they are shoting have plenty of energy to make an ethical kill at 1000 yards.

Usually they eat the back straps that night and the rest gets donated to a food bank to help the needy. The majority of people who book these hunts are from all accross the country. Taking the meat back home isn't an option so it gets donated but never waisted.

Pulling the trigger is the easy part, going and getting the animals off the side of a steep hill or the side of a mountain is the hard part. Many places will not allow you to drive ATV's in the area's of hunting which means you pack it all out on mule, dragging it or on your back and hopefully you have help. Keep in mind sometime this is also after walking miles and spending days out to get to a hunting area. It never seems to amaze me how some people will go to extreme to find something to shoot then not take into count, that all that work to get to an area to shoot, then you have to still pack it out which makes it 10 times harder to get back to camp with your kill.

Exactly what I was thinking about. I'm all about hunting for food and I don't really think those guys picked up their kills afterwards which is a shame. It would have been better if they practiced on non-live targets. I say kill for a reason but only practice so you can kill when that reason arises. Just my 2 cents...
