These people are from Bouganville which fought a bitter war for independance from PNG (which government behaved dreadfully as a puppet of RioTinto) - watch "The Coconut Revolution" kzfaq.info/get/bejne/Z7mca657qbXVe2g.html

is Tumas the name of the instruments? does any one knows?
@user-uc4vg4rg9e6 жыл бұрын
No but the instruments have different names in different countries
@hansproebsting73916 жыл бұрын
Tumas is Pidgin for "too much" or "very". The instrument is called "Pipes and paddles" and can be made from bamboo, PVC, etc

Those are pvc plastic pipes painted to look like bamboo. No bamboo is perfectly round and strait. They should be called The Bougainville Plastic Band. Their costumes appear to be made out of plastic as well.
@bradleytsivele95168 жыл бұрын
Bitch please let me see you try bring real bamboos into Australia then I'll let you be a judge
@solitudessilentgroove8 жыл бұрын
bradley tsivele I understand the sensitivity of bamboo to changes in humidity and temperature because I've made close to 2k instruments out of the wonderful stuff. Some of them travel internationally with a performer from Australia, as well as one from Germany and another from Hawaii and one from Brazil. And many other people all over the world. They have been to every continent, even Antarctica. Bamboo needs to be harvested at the right time, cured properly and usually wrapped with twine. They also need to be oiled regularly or lacquered/varnished. The right species is equally important. They require acclimation as any fine wooden instrument does... It used to bother me when I would see PVC instruments but I don't care anymore what materials people use, just don't call yourself a bamboo band when you lazily use PVC. It's insulting to those of us who actually use bamboo to make instruments and take the necessary steps to preserve them. Bitch (lol).

solid dude solitude silent groove Your point is understood, but possibly a bit snarky and unnecessary.
@michaelboko23097 жыл бұрын
just how do u know that..... as if u know how to make one.... im from there and i know what bamboos they use to make it... and the costumes i know how they are made....plus i have a sample of it... you people judge too quickly...
@1951RKP6 жыл бұрын
solid dude solitude silent groove -- So this is similar to what the Blue Man Group use in the U.S. They also make some if there’s where they will slide to different lengths to vary the tones.
