For the tank, you can get some metal etching fluid from home depot and some por paint to re-coat the inside of the tank, might be faster to do that than source a new one. Until you can get it running.

Have an SP1 , I have been offered 3000 for my gas tank a few times . Look for leaks along the back seam as people tended to break the spot welds when they tilt the tank . Plugs are expensive and difficult to get to. The Power Commander is a must (especially a good deal if it’s a 5 ) . I found it runs and tunes better with stock air filters. Welcome to the club , be safe and enjoy. I love mine , my 22Busa may be awesome, but I smile more on the 51! The misses sounds awesome in her enthusiasm, made my wife laugh as see is a bike geek too!

Take and use white vinegar and fill the tank it will dissolve the rust the use baking soda to neutralize it and get some red coat tank sealant and it will be brand new again

Bro that tank could be saved easy clean it out it doesn't look like there's any rest this residue will be a lot cheaper to have the damn pulled out then it would to replace the tank unless I'm not seeing a bunch of rest the tank looks really good actually all I can see is the original coating and then the dirt and debris from the old gas sitting there there's no rust

Was on a 1200 bandit was playing with a guy on a RC 51 we got off the freeway dicked around with each other untill we both got caught at the same red light. That bike sounds amazing I said. Dude goes I didn't think bandit s was that fast 150 that's it. Pulls good. That bike gold.

In 2021 I cleaned my 1997 fzr600 gas tank and leaking petcock that was sitting around (with gas in carbs tank fuel pump) since 2008? using Evaporust. Rebuilt the clutch, front brake calipers and installed a new aftermakt front master cylinder.and steel braided brake lines. Installed a properly self tuned polished stock vance and hines exhaust to match the stock jetting. ( The vance and hines on it.was loud af because it had been gutted out and begging for pop o attn) She runs rides and sounds like she should now. It was lots of work.... You practically stole this grail bike btw...lmfao! Good on you...
