Really interesting points Janna. This sounds like a cool series. Have you watched any of PassioKnit Kelsie's vlogs? She only crochets wearables. She doesn't like making blankets and doesn't make decor or amigurumi either. All of the granny squares she makes turn into a wearable. Highly recommend her channel 🙂 She doesn't use high end yarn usually. But it's all good. 🧶

My first yarn fest completely turned me from going to more because the knitters/venders were rude the moment you tell them you crochet. I love Steven west and picked up his book in a booth and the vender took it out of my hand when I told her I only crochet. My money spends too just ended up giving it to someone else.

I don't know, I've been crocheting and knitting for over 55 years and I've made items to wear and use in both big box yarns and Independent dyers yarn. My problem was always finding any crochet top and sweater patterns. That is no longer the a problem but there are still move patterns for knit than crochet (which frankly was one of the reasons I taught myself to knit). Independent dyers tend to put out a lot of sock weight yarns. I love it for smaller accessories and socks. Acrylics are usually worsted and bulky weights. Again, that is also changing. The nicer yarns sometimes aren't made in the yardage, or different from one skein to the next even in the same color and dye bath. So they recommend using 2 hanks at the same time alternating rows, which is a huge PITA. I'm 65 and I love all the diversity of yarns, weights, and designers available now.

I’m hoping that more crochet pattern designers will make patterns for wearables that have more shaping and interesting details. So many crochet garments seem to just be rectangles and squares. If I was young and slender that might look cute, but those days are long behind me. 😂
