Bounce Tales - Mobile Gaming on Nokia C2-01

I discovered my old Nokia C2-01 handset - charged it up and had an evening of playing some of the games still on it. Surprisingly fun although sometimes hard to play through the camera viewfinder as I had to try to play by feel where the buttons are.
This is a quick off-screen video of Bounce Tales by Rovio Studios which is a fairly decent platformer - reminds me a bit of Loco Roco on PSP. Controls are fairly easy but difficult when also trying to film. It's quite a lot of fun and has a decent amount of charm in the presentation
I try to keep the phone still and apologies that my thumb sometimes comes into shot.

Yup - Nostalgia is a large part of what my channel is about. I know what you mean and it is amazing how hearing some music you've not heard in years can trigger so many memories and transport you to another time & place entirely! Hope you enjoyed the video. Its a really good game. Fluid animation, decent controls and the "momentum" just feels so right.

Soo much nostalgia my friend, here's a new sub for you 👍 Used to play this a lot when taking a break from walking long distances, would sit there, and play the game for a good 25 minutes.

Aw - thanks for subbing - I really appreciate it. Welcome and I hope you enjoy my channel. Nostalgia is a large part of what my channel is going for and is one of the reasons I tend to keep the load times in, let the games sound and music play and don't talk over them etc It's also why I use actual hardware and film from the phone screen itself etc Basically trying to capture the experience as was. It really is a great game. Really nice animation and pixel art, good level design and the physics on the momentum just feels......right. Ha ha yeah that sounds very familiar. Just having a quick game and suddenly 25 minutes has flown by :-) It definitely has that "one more go" factor. Upcoming videos will cover all sorts of stuff but there will be more some more phone games soon so hopefully will trigger some more Nostalgia for you. Enjoy!

Where did you buy the phone from?

Hi Nina - it was an old phone I had from work so not sure where they got them from - possibly straight from the manufacturer or from the sim provider (was on Orange network I think) as we used to get tons of phones for staff. I still have a few of my old work phones which have games etc on them as they came pre-installed with a few titles.

@@nina-nl5vk It came pre-installed so if you pick up one of these phones there is a good chance it will be on there. Or there may be a Java/J2ME emulator out there that can play it? Enjoy my channel :-)

It is a lovely game. Nice level design, graphics, animation and playability. They got the "physics feel" (if that makes sense) spot on.

yay i remember this when i dont have internet connection in my phone, i get my grandpa's 12 year old nokia and play these games and i nearly finished all levels
