Күн бұрынEncouragement below It's never too early or late to learn boundaries that are healthy for marriage. We share some of our own boundaries but HIGHLY encourage you to reflect on what will be important to your and the person you are with to create a healthy relationship.
Speaking of reflecting on what we need to live a healthy life looks up to Jesus (haha), we can apply this to EVERY part of our life. If you haven't already check out the rest of our series on boundaries! We believe it will bless you and get you thinking. In a podcast I did with the boys (Prompt Us Podcast), Gabe mentioned how it's important that we become a PHD in our spouse. We need to study. To learn. To inquire to best understand how we can work together to create the best outcome. It's the same with every part of our lives. We HAVE TO CARE! We need to research and ask questions. Take things seriously. Rarely do things just happen because of "luck". Ever heard the quote "I am a great believer in luck! I find that the harder I work, the more lucky I get." Let's not just walk through life and let it happen to us. Let's take life seriously and go out and happen to it!

I think it’s a great idea to live away from the families your first year. My husband and I didn’t do this and extended family members regularly bombarded us, invaded our privacy, meddled to the point where there’s now broken relationships with in laws. We were so young and didn’t know how to set boundaries or ask for space but we needed space to figure out married life. We started off rocky and after 6 years, we still fight about our extended families. It’s so important to set the tone in your first year. I only wish I could go back on time and move to a different city and express my needs better.

This is a really great video. My husband also loves his alone time. It hurt me at first, but now I love that tone too!! We both pursue our hobbies during that time. And we learned the in laws boundaries the hard way. Glad it’s all settled now, but it was hard in the moment. Y’all are awesome!!

yea my family has always struggled with in-law boundaries. my grandparents forced my parents to live right next to them and let me tell you it has led to some very difficult moments. we’re going through a season right now due to it. please pray for my family! love you guys and God bless💗

I wish there was someone here in India to give such a wise advice to us, but thank God for youtube and you guys! I live in a Joint Family, and I have seen my parents more than often sacrifice their needs and personal space because of not having established boundaries with my grandparents, and guess what, I have been asked to do the same so many times! Does not mean I don't enjoy being with them, honestly I cannot imagine my life without them😂

Exactly... It is tough when family is involved but that doesn't mean that we don't love them and want them around... Every family dynamic is different and it's definitely important to figure out what is healthy for your mental health, romantic relationship as well as your family goals!

Thank you for talking about this guys! I'm VERY single lol. But I've realized that emotional intimacy with friends can be a problem. That being said, we put our identity into our friend groups. Sometimes I feel like we forget to set boundaries in friendships! Thank you for addressing this.

Just every video sooo precious!! It's a real treasure to find such meaningful videos with quality message! Just some of my fav highlights and comments - Communication of how we are feeling about certain stuff might be awkward in the beginning and does require quite the humility but the fruit of it is PRICELESS!! - I also really appreciated what you said about not everyone liking to figure things out right at the moment but to just let the other talk with patience and let them pour it out to a same gender friend if desired - and just not having a close or best friend if the opposite gender is extremely important and not at all strange but shows real dedication and true contentment in having the attention and heart of one guy/girl and it's totally healthy!! - also "serving with sex" is so succinct but dead on!! - loved the priority aspect too - 1. God the Father, 2. Marriage, 3. Kids, 4. Ministry, 5. School/work, etc... - something that is actually kinda new is to not put pressure on my wife to be to be EVERYTHING to me or to expect me to be everything to her, but that's so eye-opening!! So many other things but we love your advices especially in this vid and please do keep them coming!!

Key take away for me, start living like a married man now in singleness. 2ndly the raise your voice part hits hard, that's how i grew up, so really need to be supper attentive to keep my tone down. Hi ! Could you make a video about sex in marriage and the boundaries there ? Because we often know what we shouldn't do befor marriage, but then in marriage there is nothing that's really said. You cannot "keep that spark alive." That "in love" feeling is hormones and chemicals having a party in your brain...and that WILL run out. But when it runs out, hopefully you have a rock-solid commitment that is there to propel you forward. Daily attention to I Corinthians 13 (the love definition) and the instructions to husbands and wives in Ephesians 5 are what is needed. After the spark dies out, love is then a decision, a choice.

Could you elaborate on your perspective on financial boundaries in marriage. So far I have heard two perspectives with the similarity of still having a joint account. The only difference between the two perspectives is: one only has a joint account & the other is a joint account but each individual still an account of their own to spend on what they please.

If it is the Lord’s will to bless you with kids, what kinds of boundaries will you be setting up around your kids and your social media accounts? How much will you share about their lives and what they are doing? Also, how do you feel about people who post their kid’s lives on social media? Thanks a ton for being such a light to young adults and teenagers as well and for bringing such wisdom.

i had a problem not too long ago where my friends husband read a text I sent her and answered in a negative way. She was upset and so was I. I will never trust him again

A boundary that I need (not married) is to have personal Jesus time and slow morning time.not saying me and my future husband can’t or shouldn’t study the Bible and pray together just that i need my own personal time with it too✨
