Men, you two, interpret this as "Wham, Bam, thank you, Ma'am." Women interpret this as soft, slow, sensual, love making. The way he says "When a whole lot of Decembers are showin' in your face Your auburn hair has faded and silver takes it's place You'll be just as lovely and I'll still be around And if I can I know that I'd still love to lay you down." That, gentlemen, tells a woman he really loves you, not just your looks. I am 62 and when my husband sings this song, it works on me every time...for over 30 years it never gets old.

Conway is the original OG Smooth Talker! He tells you exactly how it is in all of his songs…. And yes, we (women) definitely appreciate it!! I’ve heard my dad say many times that Conway and Elvis were his go to and they always worked 😂😂

Girl, truth! I never heard Conway until I was close to 30. Ain’t no Phil Collins or Kenny g got anything on his voice. Conway is what wet dreams are made of for females. I hope that wasn’t too crass, I’m just trying to make a point without the appropriate words… Because I’ve been listening to Conway and have other matters on my mind. 😂

Conway was making women swoon till the day he died! He was one smooth talking sonofabitch! He knew what women wanted and liked and he wasn't afraid to sing about it to them 🥰 Conway did a cover of the Pointer Sisters song "Slow Hands Easy Touch." His version went through the roof. When Conway sings, he makes women feel like he's singing right to them. ❤

Actually, from a woman’s perspective, at least this woman’s perspective, what starts out sounding like a crass, too direct approach ends up being one of the most romantic of songs. He is saying that he wants her and will continue to want her and find her attractive even as she gets older. And he does say he is going to say everything his woman wants to hear.

Re: do we appreciate that approach from the start Guys, I have always perceived that song to be one from the aspect of being well into a relationship, and not a first time meeting kind of thing. In a long term relationship and/or marriage, hell yeah the approach is great -- to know we still turn our other half on, that he ain't bored with us, that time and aging hasn't diminished that, etc ... ::dreamy sigh:: Oh and I'm not so sure the bit about being in the kitchen, faded cotton gown, hair in curlers thing would be controversial even now... For me, it brings to mind a barely awake woman pouring herself a cup of coffee (or these days waiting on the single cup maker) Thank you for making my Monday morning shine brighter than it otherwise would have been.

I also didn't take this as his approach to seducing a woman he barely knows. I have always taken this as his continuing appreciation and love for his longtime wife/lover. He says she thinks she doesn't look her best in her faded nightgown and curlers in her hair, but he is saying he thinks she looks the best in her natural state, no make up, no fussy hairstyle, no designer clothes, she doesn't need those things to be beautiful.

Conway is known for his key shifts. He also played acrobats with his voice in most his songs. He once said his audience was mostly women so he chose songs that were directed to them. I love Conway and miss him. His last album called "Final Touches" was his best as far as I am concerned. I have just about every CD he ever made including his early years.

I can still remember the very first time that I ever heard that joke. Sophomore year biology class. We had some downtime and I was just chatting with the guy in the seat ahead of me. And that is the classic ...."nice shoes, wanna Eff?"

There is a video that is a tribute to Conway after he passed. There is an artist who was a friend that Conway was always offering songs to. Telling him the song was a hit, but his friend always turned them down, then Conway recorded it and had a #1. When this song was offered his friend said "Conway, that song is dirty". You suggested this was the '70s, no.... this was the late '80s or early '90s.

Conway Twitty and Loretta Lynn's music together is awesome. "You're the reason our kids are ugly" is hilarious. One of my mother's favorite songs was "I still believe in waltzes", a great song for couples. Conway and Loretta were singing partners and they sang a lot of great songs together. ❤

You men think if this song as "we're going to get some now"( l wont us the "f" word.lol). Us women think it's a beautifully sung love song. What woman wouldn't want this sung to her & to know that when she's old with gray hair, her man still loves her. Conway sure knows how to write & sing. Sure do miss him. Another beautiful song by Conway & Loretta is their duet "l still believe in waltzes." C & L were great together. Their chemistry was fire! Hope you listen to the duets they did. Oh l almost forgot. Conway wore his hair(same style)for many year. If l remember correctly he had to change it because it was ruining his hair. It was a big deal when he styles his hair differently. He still sang & looked good to us ladies.🥰💞

Cinna toothpicks were THE barter system in my middle school in the 80s. They were even sold in the stores. But the home made ones were the ones that traded the best. The longer soaked, the better. As far as Conway went, there were many of his songs that some stations would not play because they were too suggestive for the times.

You guys are so cute when the subject of sex comes up and you go full-blown 14 year olds! As for how well that approach works for women, I can only speak for this one, and it depends: approached in a bar, 98 times out of a hundred the guy gets shot down. Alternatively, 100 guys using smarmy "lines" ALL get shot down. Now, leaving aside the first verse, the rest of the song, obviously being sung to his wife - yessir, that approach always works - and the longer the marriage the better it works. Every woman wants to believe her man still finds her physically desireable. Don't take my word for it, ask your wimmins.

If I'm not in the mood, asking if I want sex, isn't doing to get me there. Pick yer poison. Funny story.. about 15 ish years ago, I went walking out to the living room in a towel, with a bottle of lotion in my hands. ( we had huge plate glass windows.. hence the towel). I asked my hubby if he'd put some lotion on my back. Jack Azz said no, he didn't like the feel of lotion on his hands. 3 hours later he asked if I wanted to have sex ( but blunter) .. I said no, you missed that ship a few hours ago. He said I was to subtle. < incert eye roll> I told him next time I'll come out with A B.O.B and Let him chose between the lotion or it. I knew it was a lost cause when I had to explain who ( his word) B.O.B. was.

I would agree with you about that! With few exceptions today's Country love songs are terrible! I've heard it called "Boyfriend Country". While I think a guy should make sure his partner knows how much he loves her, he really shouldn't be worshiping her and letting her completely control his life! (I'm looking at you Kane Brown and your song "Worship You").

I've seen Conway's theme work with a friend of mine and just couldn't bring myself to utilize those tools. I'm all about the auburn hair, I just need a challenge from a woman to adore her! Conway's a conniver with good lines. Seems like cheating when most of us just buy or borrow it. Conway was like a sailor, any port in a storm!

Back in the day, I wasn't above any tool in the toolbox. I drove around all day listening to Metallica, Megadeth, Exodus, etc... But you can bet I had that Bon Jovi CD in the car in case there was a girl in the passenger seat. - Keith

@nCountryReacts In the early & mid-sixties the only tools in my toolbox were used to keep the old flatheads and 352's humming Keith. I hadn't discovered Nortons yet. With the bikes I began to miss the Who, Kinks, Stones and rock. I had lost my roots until that Silver-tongued Devil popped up. The gals had all wanted that canted twin parallel vibration that ye ole Norton has. It shifts on the right. Things work out in life, if you can fit in like Shelton did with the Whites. I'm afraid I fit in too, but causally stayed away from trouble like you did. Different stokes and I liked four.

Okay this is actually I remember how popular this song was back in the seventies. I also remember seeing a whole lot of red faces and having one of those myself every time we heard it. The song embarrassed a lot of people but they didn't stop listening to it because it was so darn well done.

Round and Round was off the Out of the Cellar album. Lay it Down was on Invasion of Your Privacy. Both have really iconic guitar riffs. Back in the day, I had three favorite guitarists. Randy Rhoads (Ozzy), George Lynch (Dokken), Warren DeMartini (Ratt). Twenty years later I found out they were at one point, all room mates in LA. - Keith

This is so NOT a "wham bam thank ya mam" song - it is about committed forever kind of love ~ she know her man still loves her & wants her when she is old & grey!!! Women dig that so much more than "1-night-which-I- hadn't" encounters!!! Get your minds out of the gutter!!!! Please!!!

We are all grown people, or at least age wise (or should be if listening to this) and so the word fuck is completely acceptable. If you're offended, then as they say, you shouldn't be listening to them.
