I've had the opportunity of getting tips from Santosh Yadav sir back in the days between 2007-08. I still remember him observing me bowl to a State batsmen for 30 minutes. He approached me and said 'why are you doing so much hard work?' He took the ball and got the batsmen out in 2 balls. I was surprised by his talent and then started spending time with him, learning about cricket stories. He was quite addicted to alcohol by then, lost and fed up with the system.

When I played u13 he was playing for u16 when he was only 13 in the early 90s. He was the brightest star the Hyderabad team had seen in the longest time. If you ask me, kohli calibre and nothing less. Swashbucking batsman, outstanding fielder and decent bowler as well. Every single time I saw him bat, he would belt bowlers at will. He really was a treat and delight to watch. Many years later when I met him, his downfall started...addicted to gutkha and alcohol. His demenour changed and he wasn't the same again. He has no one to blame except himself for falling into bad habtis and company. Any cricket star in their 40s and they'll tell you the legend he was. Feeling very low and sad.

I trained under Santhu bhai at St John's, Sec'bad from 2008-11 during my U-16 and U-19 days. Was a great fielding coach who believed in his trainees and enjoyed seeing them perform. Still vividly remember the techniques and skills he imparted. One of the best coaches I trained under. Was a top class left-hand bat during his playing days.

I have seen him play in RRC grounds, St.johns Secunderabad in around early 2000’s-2008. As a kid I have seen him playing and heard more about him and his talent. Now that we have digital medium to know a person, Back then people used to appreciate and elevate his skill and talent like a hero. Good that you that have made a video of him and trying to show him to the people who didn’t knew Santhosh bhai. Balaji I appreciate and Thank you for bringing up this man, This video may get him some opportunities and make him better somehow. Balaji I think you’re younger to me I guess but your intention towards the video is pure but the way you handled him unknowingly is something I felt it’s not right. And you’re not letting him speak to your questions. I know being Hyderabadi (Secunderabadi) our accent seems to be little harsh to people around but not our intentions . Santhu bhai used to give fielding coaching for our U-13 St Andrew’s cricket team about 20 years ago and I’ve seen him since then. His cricketing skill was on another level. Just because he had gotten into wrong company he has been this way. Bro, Balaji he seems like a drunkard, but You need to respect him more for his talent and skill. Just felt otherwise in the video.

Thanks bro for this video. Santhosh anna used to be a coach at St John’s marredpally in the years 2001-2005 when I used to go for coaching. He is a legend in hyd cricket. Vaadu maaradu.....he is like that only....from decades...yes private tournaments spoiled him....30%...70% he himself. Used to have gutkha in mouth during last days when he played first class cricket. But one thing for sure better than lakshman.....his shots i still remember....when i was in opposite end....and the unforgettable partner ship with BDL Raj anna and this idiot was the best..one thing he never forgets is sampath sir....and i saw the guru and disciple relationship, when Sampath sir passed away..we always wish he will be back to normal...and Dilip who learnt fielding from him should help...only if he changes....

It's very unfortunate to see for once a promising crickter, it might be some stress caused his path to bad habits, at least BCCI should do career coaching, handle sensitive people well if it comes to their notice (although this not per book rules) and financial literacy or give him some health care insurance to support him. It's late but a little money make his rest of life peaceful
