You don't necessarily have to be a professional fender maker to make a professional fender. As you proved. Awesome work. 💪🏻👍🏻

I thought it would be a "how to.." video, but for me it was much more a "watch in awe" video. What a pleasure to see your work. There so much to learn in here. Thanks so much.

I'm not a pro, but i recycle life jackets i find around the river for the insides of my rope fenders. I been making my own fenders for a while. I have an old boat built in 42 for the us navy, and found i had so many plastic bumpers, because i found them in the river. I decided to make my own when i was hanging with a fellow that had an old wooden coast guard life boat. and found if i have made four bumpers for my boat that i have four bumpers that i had invested time in and i value them so much so got rid of all the rubber bumpers which cleared up some of my unwanted clutter, and it is cool cause most people that comment on them think i found them in an antique store. I'm going to make one for my boat like you showed in this video. I'll check out all your video's now that i am subscribed. Much thanks dude.

Thank you for posting your video! It’s great to see the craft of such a nice piece of work from beginning to end. You inspired me to make my own “Rope maker’s Marlinspike” from what I had around. I’ll take some photos of it and email it to you. This video gave me some great ideas for some furniture I’d like to make. Great video content!

Wonderful. I would never have thought to lay out the bend like that, but it sure makes a lot of sense when you stop to think about it!

Amazing workmanship!!!! Since I've seen this type of old-school fender i wanted to make one... Thanks to you and the sharing of your knowledge I'll be able now just need to find the material since over here nowadays its only synthetic ropes... And this is the kind of style that goes perfectly with a wooden sailboat like mine! Thanks again for sharing!!!

Bowfender looks like a giant mustasch. Like the type of mustasch that the villain in an old western cowboy film would sport.

The person that have a vote down, please explain so I can learn your thought process. Was it the music or the content? I enjoyed this video. Just was curious.

Right? What must be going through his mind? /Or/, I've seen this before on many other channels and sites, some people give an initial downvote to their own work just as a superstition. I doubt Mikko is *that* way, but one never knows. :)

As you were laying out and taping the filler pieces the bight in the center "magically" appeared. Did you just put a bight in one of the filler strands, or it more securely built than that?
@jesper139119 күн бұрын
I was wondering the same thing. Where did that bight come from?

Great work as always. Could you tell me the size of the small fid you used for the seizing, please.
@mikkosnellman3 жыл бұрын
That would be my small, 12mm fid.
@Grumpy_Twxt3 жыл бұрын
@@mikkosnellman thanks, my smallest fid is the 175mm Swedish Fid. The one you're using looks like it has a much narrower taper, where could I buy one like yours?

@@Grumpy_Twxt I can not take any more orders for fids at the moment but they will come up for sale at www.snellman.ax when I get new batch done.
