Picking up the 4-7-10 split from behind the ball return with an 8 pounder. I picked up the 6-7-10 the other night but my brother neglected to film it. He knows who he is...

Yeah, good action. It hits the pocket hard and I've learned to control it pretty well. Since I kind of honed in that style, my average has gone up a lot. I've rolled a 761 series like that, and also a 280 game (8/ in the 2nd). It's just more comfortable for me without the thumb, so I've kind of figured how to make it work for me. We bowl "unlimited" nights at our local place, and bowling 20 games in a row gets kind of hard on the thumb!

That's right, I use an 8 or a 10 house ball for spares with one or 2 fingers only. But I actually don't use the thumb hole on my 15lb ball either. I've got a totally vertical spin.

@benfour44 - yeah, 8 pounds are great because you can basically throw them like a baseball... really easy to aim and spin like a top :)

Don't you mean you pulled that off from behind the approach? That is insane! The last time I saw such a good shot from that far away, Fred Flintstone did it. Technically, a bowling ball shot like that is perfectly legal, even if it's bizarre.

Haha yeah, we were getting bored that night and just started messing around. Definitely a bit lucky, but it was indeed intentional! Happy to be in good company with Fred Flintstone LOL

So what are the odds of picking up that split?

If I was the proprietor I'd kick you out for tossing a ball like that and hurting the approaches.
