Some easy sparring between Lionel, who boxed competitively when he was a young teenager, and Ke, a Kyokushin Karate instructor at Dojo Americana in Oceanside. Lionel hasn't boxed in years but does train jiu jitsu and is a blue belt in that style. Ke is an active kyokushin instructor.
Dojo Americana is located in Oceanside, Ca.

To the people saying "If they had a REAL boxer" or "If they had a REAL kyokushin guy", these guys are both real fighters who have been legitimately trained, the boxer may have not been that experienced do, and the kyokushin guy may have had some experience in other martial arts too. The point wasn't to kill each other, it was to learn from each other and become better martial artists/fighters, and I respect that 🥋

What training you think that “boxer” had? His footwork (the main base for boxing) is almost nonexistent and the way he blocks and looks away when blocking as if afraid of getting hit, c’mon lol

Karate is limited in its forms against combinations of undercuts and haymakers. It excells in protection against jabs. So a good boxer will jab and bob until he can start combinations like, undercut, slip, step and counter.

i have done both kyokushin and boxing....if u bob and weave or do laterial head movement u will get kicked and sleep...if u turn out 45 degrees u will walk into a kick and break....kyokushin dosnt often train to attack the head there for they are ridged all the boxer has to do if tee off on the chin... providing he can cover the distance

@@DwellingTheAbyss I'm not sure which history were right my friend but for the Thai history our culture is s fighting culture so we love to record all the data from all of those Muaythai warriors too but from our Muaythai history their best Kyokushin fighters named Master Hikari Kenshu and Master Kurosaki and both of them were knocked out by the MuayThai legend Poot Lorlek and Ravee Dechachai. None of them won. And also at that time those Kyokushin master also invited the Muaythai Masters to teach them there at their Kyokushin gym in Japan too. And 3 MuayThai masters who went to teached at the kyokushin gym in Japan at that time named 1.Sakmongkol Sitchuchok, 2.Sueadow Kiatsongrit and 3.Langsuan Panyutapoom. At that time was the time that they added a lot Muaythai moves to kyokushin book. At that time those Muaythai legend were really famous just like Saenchai ir buakaw nowaday so those history that the Thai Masters were invited to Japan as a Master were on the Thai news too but do not know there were on the Japan news or not. Probably not. Also nowadays most of their great fighters also most Japanese K-1 champion were studied here in Thailand such as, - Masato Kobayashi - Kohirui Takayuki - Minoru kimura - Yoshiki Takei - Takeru Sekawa - Masaiki Noiri - Ren Hiramoto And - Tenshin Nasukawa that's came to studied Muaythai in Thailand since he was a kid we Thai also saw a lot of his fights since he's a beginner until he growing up but now it's so sad for Thai people that when he already a teenager he never talked about Muaythai anymore only credited about his country Martial art. At that time a lot of Thai love to cheered and watched Tenshin fight because he's a foreigners that Wai-Kru dance very beautiful.

Hello sir, I am a Kyokushin Karateka. I'm currently in my Green Senior Belt, and I have one doubt. I ask you this, respectfully, why is the man with yellow t-shirt has open palm ? Whenever I train with my fellow Karatekas and seniors , they always tell me to make a tight fist. I even get a beating if, i keep my fists open. Shouldn't the man with yellow T-shirt keep his fists closed ?

+Tony Tiger Whether someone is a master of a style has nothing to do with their rank. it has to do with how much time and effort they have put into it. They need to tirelessly practice and need to be humble enough to realise the areas they are weak in and focus on fixing those discrepancies. This is true for any thing in life you wish to be a master of.

+kristof herme Boxers are not good without their gloves. They now have a much smaller blocking surface without gloves. Their hands are not conditioned to hit without gloves. So not a good idea. That said put the boxing gloves on the Kyokushin guy and he would be limited.

Gotta love when a fight nerd sees a video where his favorite style doesn't dominate the fight and he immediately goes: "BuT tHAt'S nOt REaL *insert martial art name". Chill. Martial artists are supposed to be perpetual learners, some are going to be naturally better than others. Where is YOUR sparring video? Besides, light sparring is supposed to be a mutual training session, not complete domination. If part A is dominating part B then it's not training, it's just a show.
