EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW BY DANIEL MATTHEWS: Only nine years on from first stepping through the ropes at Finchley Boxing Club, Anthony Joshua is the unified heavyweight champion of the world. On April 29, in only his 19th professional fight, the 27-year-old rose from the canvas to stop the great Wladimir Klitschko in front of 90,000 fans at Wembley Stadium. As Joshua prepares for the next chapter in his record-breaking career, Sportsmail visited him at his first amateur gym to get inside the mind of the man spearheading a golden age in British boxing.

I'm a JP fan but I have to say there are times that I really like AJ. He's a decent bloke. I still hope JP knocks his block off but yeah he's an alright fella

Currently my favorite boxer i must admit. Too many boxers try to sell themselves with the Floyd Mayweather formula, which works for some but leaves a bad act for young viewers and fans to follow. Also leaves a figure most of those young fans will never live up to [look at the mess Adrien Broner is right now]. AJ, stay humble and don't just become a great British athlete, become a great world athlete. You're on the right track. Lennox showed Brits can dominate in the world scene. Wladamir showed that to be an all time great and dominant champion you don't need to be American. Ali gets a lot of love for what he did outside the ring but as far as boxing goes several champions were greater. Joe Louis stats are unmatched and just like you he was humble, keep it up my friend.

People call him fake, they say his chin is weak and they also say, his just all muscle. But all those people needs to take a real look in the mirror. Anthony Joshua has come a long way and is extremely wise. He speaks of things that many don't take serious. But if you listen to him with a clear open mind, his words comes from tough experience. (5.18secs) - Topic on kids at school with lots of energy. Hyper active kids that are miss understood. Punished from school to then go home and take verbal insults. But alot of those type kids has risen to become stars. I keep saying to others, it's easy to say that u focus on ur children due to the fact that u provide, that's just the basics. To focus on the movements of your child, to acknowledge their strength and weaknesses, whilst taking the time to plan on how you can open doors for them and help them build in areas of weaknesses, that is the advance level of parenting. Such which makes a child become more determine and live in great honor. Anthony Joshua spoke basically of his past in his own words. But who will start to see how great of a person he is and boxer/champion? I will tell you. Only those whom took the time to listen to him and also read in full, what I've commented. With a mind to take in and appreciate the wisdom. No matter what happens in his career, which I believe will be flawless, he is a growing legend like the legends of past. Im not looking past Parker, becuase Parker recently offered AJ a guaranteed rematch if he loses - but I dont think AJ will need that and if he does - than its a no lose stuation for AJ. Only thing is he might look bad but I think Hearn will look worse. Im sure Deontay's jab at Hearn got them both - but Hearn and AJ are a good team - very profitable for both. AJ is a good bloke and loyal ..£££££££ ist all about the Benjamins bro.

gladfly: Read some of your earlier comments with a bias to race and note your seeming blinkered views. But have you considered that the scientific and genetic evidence shows that all peoples in this world are related and are 99.9% identical? Moreover, are you aware that homo sapiens all descended from Africans? Are you aware that Blacks can and do produce whites (not albinos) with European features and blue eyes but not the reverse? Do you know the reason for different skin colour and hair texture? Now if you take issue with the DNA evidence, perhaps you can let me know what empirical evidence you have to the contrary.

gladifly: You stated that humans share 98 percent of their DNA with donkeys. Well, that a new one to me. Please cite your source to verify that statement. On the other hand, we know that humans and chimps share 98.8 percent of their DNA. I can round it off and say they share 99 percent similarity at the gene level. The difference is in the gene's activity that affects brain development and function. Therefore, I agree with you regarding the one difference that is as you say, "massive" and which equates to 100 nucleotides. We know that Homo erectus and Homo sapiens originated in Africa. The earliest finds of modern Homo sapiens skeleton come from Africa. Comparison of mitochondrial DNA sequences from living people throughout the world show that Africa has the greatest genetic diversity and therefore must be the homeland of all modern humans. tony cabalano Dcaf.... Joshua is an Olympic gold medalist boxer... Has fought better opposition than parker..had a better amateur career than parker... AJ even beat takam to a stand still... Parker struggled to beat takam in 12 rounds, the win was pretty questionable... AJ will do parker like he did takam.... TKO or RTD.... Parker isn't ready for the power, ferocity, spiteful nature, the sharpened mindset and polished skill set of AJ... Parker has never seen a step up like AJ in his professional career or life ... But AJ many times... Even Whyte was more of a threat than parker currently is to AJ an whyte got knocked to the canvas easily... I don't see parker going past 6 rounds with AJ.... That's all I'm saying

He is losing weight because he noticed in his last 2 fights that his extra weight was fucking with his stamina, not because he is scared.... Its called improving your game, in fact he was taking about losing weight even before the fight was announced or negotiated on, nothing to do with Parker....
