I Love Sugar Ray Leonard. He is Truly one of the All Time Greats…And Donny Lalonde gave him one Hell of a Fight. But you can not have a World Title Fight with 2 Different weight division belts on the line in one fight that is nonsense this is when it all got a bit silly for me.. to many belts and to many in between weight divisions .. I think it’s Because Sugar Ray and Tommy Hearns we’re in a race to see who could be the first man to win 4 titles at 4 different weights . That’s when they invented the WBO BELT for the Tommy Hearns v James kintchen fight at the newly invented super middleweight division .. And This is when it all got a bit too much.. They are all GREAT FIGHTERS WHO I LOVE AND RESPECT. But this is when it got to much.. and now there’s how many Belts, It’s got to the point where ( With Me and just my humble opinion) That the Real Belt is the Ring Magazine Belt … just Saying..⭐️🌞

Leonard's obvious problem early was trying to box and move away from a guy 3 inches taller. Lalonde may have not have had elite skills but he was good enough with the jab to make it hard for Ray. Once Ray closed the distance and started fighting inside he did much better.

SRL had seriously underestimated Lalonde`s physical strength. And even though Ray was a master at bluffing, it is clear that he was in deep trouble several times during this bout. That he could dig deep and turn this around and stop Donny shows just how uniquely special the Sugar man really was. For me, this is up there with ALL of his best victories. Donny was NOBODY`S fool, he could fight and he had REAL power.

Never watched the Brit call for this. Not once did the HBO people mention the effect on Lalonde for coming down 7 pounds in weight. The title was for both a version of the super middle title 168 and for Lalonde's light heavy title. So Lalonde had to make 168 after fighting his career at 175 that could not have helped his stamina and chin late in the fight.
