There are 3 types of being hit hard. 1) You get up and show little effect - think Calzaghe vs Eubank or garcia vs luke campbell. 2) You get up and recover - think wilder fury trilogy. 3) You get hit then cannot recover in the 45 minutes of a fight. Think ruiz vs joshua or Taylor vs lopez. This was the latter from the shot in round one. Haney made a good fist of trying to make it look like type i or 2, but it was type 3.

Good insight and questions. Not a fan of Haney at all but a little one sided. Haney made the sacrifices to make 140 as per contract whereas Ryan wouldn’t/couldnt. Wouldn’t because he wanted an advantage or couldn’t because by his own admission his conditioning wasn’t what it should’ve been. Also, Haney had a 1-2 inch reach advantage which I suspect would’ve surprised Dom.

There is definitely no difference. But why should there be any of the consequences? Devin Haney knew about the weight and still went through with it. He could have mediated through whatever options are left available, depending on the context of their contract. But, boxing would not even qualify as a professional sport, I THINK but would have to verify, because it has no regulating body that would have the authority to justify all of the action you suggest. That being said, I agree that there should be consequences just from my personal feelings of justice and equality. But I may be wrong. The only reason my desires or opinions would matter here is because I am a potential customer. The people involved in the fight are not complaining. Why should some government or entity have the power to control someone’s choices like that?

Come on haney got put down cus he was fighting someone with serious power. Closest thing he has fought to a puncher was tiny Linares who the ref allowed him to hold on for dear life for the last two rounds after getting caught. He was quite happy beating much tiny fighters until lomochenko battered him and got robbed after he was given a thirty six hour weigh in so he could rehydrate back up 165+ in weight. The man weighed in four pounds less than ggg for his light welterweight debut against prograis. Makes a mockery of weight divisions. The other one that springs to mind is Virgil Ortiz who was quite happy doing the same until had to fight someone who's any good like stanionis. Even then the weight cut wasn't this ridiculous.

Dominic will have met Michael Jackson he was a Naz fan, he came to Naseem Hameds workouts for his fight with Kevin Kelly and invited Hamed to his Neverland ranch. And from what was reported at the time Bill Clinton cleared his diary so he could watch the fight in the Whitehouse. People forget how huge a global phenomenon Hamed was in his Prime and that too before the age of social media. And everybody who was anybody wanted to hang out with him.
