We've both started this series before, but then life got in the way and we could never finish it. After watching these openings, our interest has been re-sparked, so hopefully we'll be able to finish it one day XP

First off you guys made some really good predictions that I haven't seen other reactors make. Second, this series is freaking amazing. It is so unique and expansive. The main conflict is science vs magic. Characters have powers through either scientific experimentation or through the practice of magic. One thing to keep in mind is that everything across the main series (Index) and the side stories (Railgun and Accelerator) is connected, and adds to the universe. If u want to watch the series this is the watch order I recommend. - Index season 1 - Railgun season 1 (but takes place before index 1) - Railgun season 2 (but takes place in the middle of index season 1) - Accelerator season 1 - index season 2 - Miracle of Endymion (movie, takes place during the begining of season 2 of Index) - Index season 3 - Railgun season 3 ( takes place during the festival in index season 2) Everything I just listed doesn't even cover half of the source material from the Light Novels, and the light novels are still ongoing, so the anime series is far from complete and is still ongoing as well, so I would say now is a great time to become a new fan of the series. While Railgun starts before Index, it's only by three days. Misaka's fight against the AIM Burst happens the same day as Touma's encounter with Kanzaki. And the two filler Arcs. Big Spider ad Poltergeist, both happen just before Index's Deep Blood Arc.

This franchise is amazing. I actually just showed it to my friend and we just finished season 3 of Index. I love how the warped setting of Academy city brings out either the best or the worst of its inhabitants. The Espers are far more interesting to me than any of the Magicians, but I love how each characters' circumstances push them forward.

Well in the LN they go into more detail on how magic works, and later it's revealed that esper powers and magic are actually more related than you think.

Flash Facts: - The To Aru Majutsu no Index(literally meaning A Certain Magical Index) is originally an ONGOING Light Novel. - The Accelerator and the Railgun anime are basically side stories from the Light Novel that have been adapted into their own side series. - Season 2 ended at a weird spot. Us the novel readers had to wait roughly like ~7 years for the 3rd season to be finally aired. - The Light Novel is split into two parts. The To Aru Majutsu no Index part that ends right where the Season 3 of the anime ended and then the ongoing part which is titled To Aru Majutsu no Index New Testament. The current material of New Testament is enough for AT THE VERY LEAST 2 anime seasons of 26 episodes each.

You're a bit off on a couple of things here. First off, Railgun and Accelerator are not side-stories from the Light Novels. They both started out as Manga. And second, New Testament ended last year. Part 3 of the story, Genesis Testament, already has one Volume.

I've seen the first few seasons of each show, not the newer Accelerator, though. It's a neat concept as you don't really need to watch both series, but you get more out of the story if you do. I enjoyed Railgun more than Index, but they're both enjoyable, imo.

For some unknown reason all the adaptations of the main series (index) are bad and all the adaptations of the spin-offs, be it accelerator or railgun, are good. Even though it's done by the same studio...

@@saintgeekSG I think the key issue that the Index anime suffer is like many anime that are adapted from or the source material from the light novel, TV anime as a medium (and the episodes constraint) is the limitation as it is simply not enough to adapt the story in a way that is without cutting content- which seriously doesn't help for Index considering the plot is quite complex, even by light novel standard. Railgun and Accelerator on the other hand are spin-offs in the form of manga, so basically it has a much more straightforward storytelling and with the panel to panel layout, animating them would be far easier as the drawing in the manga are used as reference for the animation; (Index) adapting from light novel on the other hand the studio would have to rely on just the text as reference, and then have to imagine, create and animate the scenes accordingly.

the third season is the worst of all, several parts of the light novels were skipped, railgun is so much better than the main story, especially the sister arc.

@@duraman96 Yes the whole 3rd season pacing was so rush and all over the place, and was really struggling to keep up with what was happening. It was like they were just trying to hit all the key checkpoints, rather than really telling the story properly. It really should have been spread across 2 seasons instead of stuffing as much as they could into one.

There are two power sources, espers and magicians, the point of the series is there is a magic vs science side.

Basically it's about magic world meet science world. Magician meet ESPer While in magic world, we meet lightning bolt, fire golem, spell etc.... In science world we will meet cloning, railgun, dark matter, laser, robotic, etc.... Actually it's very unique theme because two worlds mashed together

For me, this anime is like the dc or marvel cinematic universe. In this anime, each arc is like a separated movie with a various story and character. The best part of this is seeing a bunch of character from each movie interacting in another movie 🤣. I can explain it with a better way, i hope you got my point

I love my guy Touma but Railgun with Misaka and her friends is a more entertaining anime than Index, mainly because Index in Index is freaking annoying

I personally dont know which one I like more, railgun I like more overall because constant Misaka, who I like more than Touma, but Index has more Accelerator who is my favorite character of all time. I don't find Index or Kuroko annoying I've watched the series two times and I'm watching for a third right now and I've always found them more funny than annoying
