Holding the sword isn't the issue. Its the amount of energy in the incoming blade that he is able to deflect. A hit from a longsword will knock just about anyone over, even if its dull. Its an anime though and things like that are normal in an anime universe!

And you forget, that are other times and they start early to train with weapons or need to help with the work, so kids in these times are stronger, if they are nutritrend enough. And using weapons is more about technic than brutal streangh, if its not a longsword in a childs hands, that is in reality far longer than the child, haha. Kids have of course shorter weapons, so the weight is less. And if it were to real it woundnt be fun. ;)

Stories like these would be sooooo much better if the main characters were at least a few years older. Like 15/16, 14 at youngest. This would put them at an age where them talking about adult matters wouldn't be so far out of normal like it would be with children. It would also be more fitting when a character gets flustered over a relationship, or liking someone. Most of the time with these shows I just pretend they're older than the anime/manga had stated, and they just look younger. Really wish they'd stop with this whole "Lets make a story where the MC does all these adult things, but is still just a kid!". Unfortunately loli/shotacon ideas make it into to much stuff out of Japan. I get that an adult that reincarnates with all their memories would get flustered, or have a more adult personality as a child. The problem is that none of the other children in these shows could use that as an excuse, yet they are still written to act more adult like than an actual child would.

As in there is the MC, then the main additional characters such as the ones that are getting engaged. Also, I didn't say "this anime", I said "Stories like these", as in anime that are based around reincarnation, and the primary plot takes place when the MC and other main/primary characters are still children. It's not a complaint that the MC is a child, but that all the main characters (thats plural) are children.
