I used this anytime I'm out, and it absolutely works, saved me in several situations that could have went very bad, had I not been paying attention.

Interesting. We learned a system, called SIPDE: See Identify Predict Decide and Execute Not as concise as ooda loop, but similar concept referring to the steps to process information.

Outstanding video, keep up the good work. I've studied and briefed the OODA loops in training... In real world witnessed the 3rd "O" way too many times

This is a horrible description of the OODA loop they have no understanding of Orient. It has nothing to do with positioning yourself. It’s the most important cycle of the OODA loop. This is where you orient your mind to understand your situation that leads you to decide. And there is no third O.

I think that the emphasis here is that the third " o " is metaphorical and is used as an effective example of of how to respond to situations that require more acute observation. So give me your take and perspective on that please.

Don't add to someone else's work and try to make it your own. The third "O" that you added is irrelevant. It falls under orient. Stick to the source material. Otherwise, good stuff.

Why is this even a discussion? Isn't this how people simply think? Basic psychology? When people hear about this they act like they're coming across some kind of secret ancient Kung Fu secret. Gives a little credence to the idea that we live in a world surrounded by NPCs.

Isn’t orienting in and of itself a decision? Tbh, orient frequently seems to come after decision in my chain. If I’m orienting towards an opponent, I’ve already decided to destroy them. Perhaps odoa night be a superior acronym?

Kyle Simon well, cops who think like that, and refused to be trained correctly like demonstrated in this video, make the news and cause riots

no its basically saying, okay" person "x" is doing action"y". How does this relate to me?" and then based off of your answer that question you decide how to go about what you are doing or intended to do.

If you’re going to nit pick this way, it’s a dododededa loop. Decide to observe, decide to orient, decide to decide decide to act. Or dedodedodedededededa

@Kyle, you need to read the book. On Fighter Pilot John “30 second” Boyd.

This is terrible. Adrenaline doesn't allow for logical reasoning. This makes it seem like everything is moving in slow motion and you have the time to think logically. This is the kind of teaching that leads to negative consequences for everyone. This is so disappointing.

Tell that to 40 second Boyd
@mkyfinn73

@@dominicsilva3406 "40 sec Boyd" comes from a trick he would play on student pilots. He told them to put them selves in a trap, 40 seconds later he had shown them that it was a trap. I can tie my shoes in less than 40 seconds. Even faster if I get someone else to do most of the prep work.
