I also grew up mostly on action anime’s… but from the moment I watched Spy x Family it became my absolute FAVORITE!! The chokehold this anime/ manga has on me is crazy. And it was the first anime I showed my wife that she actually enjoyed. We recently watched the movie and it was just perfection! Looking forward to the reactions as you make it through season 1 and then 2!! And if it matters at all definitely keep it up with the English Dub. I’ve watched both and just find Anya so incredibly cute in English!!

The writers/animators must be parents because some of the things Anya does are exactly the kinds of things kids her age say & do.

OK. Since your response to my comment was positive, I'll try to answer your questions (without spoiling). Though my area of expertise is Politics and Intelligence/Counter-Intelligence operations - especially focusing on Europe during Cold War. 1. Show is called "Spy Family". "X" denotes something like a "Space", but has more "style". So for example another famous Shounen show is "Hunter Hunter". Of course I'm not going to laugh or anything at anyone who is used to saying "Hunter x Hunter". "X" is always silent and while it denotes "space" it can sometimes have secondary meaning of "and", like "&" sign. But that is more advanced Japanese that I'm prepared to stake my life on ;) 2. EDIT: I prefer watching Japanese version, but dub for this show is fine. You're missing on Anya saying "waka waka" everytime she is excited though 🤣 3. EDIT 2: Being involved with police or drawing attention to yourself is a big no-no for both spies and assassins. Though if Yor were to be arrested, it's plausible that "Shopkeeper" (her boss) would arrange for friendly police officer to handle investigation and interrogation. Such police officer wouldn't know the truth, they would only be told something akin to "she works hard in her department, having any connection to any criminal case might impede her work etc.". Heck, the most likely situation is that there would be no intervention. She would go through normal processes and somewhere a bit later, paper work would be lost - as can always happen. No-one's fault really. 4. EDIT 3: Well, they couldn't work together. "Thorn Princess" is likely an assassin for Ostalis Counter Intelligence Agency. Or one of it's more secretive branches, perhaps even a separate Agency from civilian or military counter-intelligence. "Twilight" is an Intelligence operator for Westalis, specializing in deep cover missions, currently assigned to Ostania. He is an "illegal spy" (legal spy is one that is working under protection of Diplomatic immunity - though obviously "spy" isn't in such people job description. They can be anyone within embassy or consulate, usually they have mid to high level of work. Usually only Ambassador knows their true identity, because they need to cover for them and do their official jobs for them, when agent cannot handle doing both at the same time). And while "Thorn Princess" is usually sent to deal with "internal" enemies of the state (minister who is corrupt I think was her target in Episode 2), they are fundamentally enemies. If one found out true job of the other they would HAVE to report it. Twilight might have some leeway, but he would likely be ordered to kill Yor. Yor would certainly be told to kill Twilight. Or capture him alive for interrogation. The whole concept is funny, because any slip up from either of them that isn't believed by the other is a death sentence to the person that made the mistake.
