Halloween is this weekend! Because of that, I made a holiday special featuring a monster inspired by the spooky Wendigo. I have had many requests and suggestions for a Wendigo in my Wild Western world, so here is my take. It's not exactly a Wendigo, but it's close enough.
If you are interested in joining the Hobby Time discord and want another way to support the channel, here's the link to my Patreon! / boylei

In native folklore, the Wendigo is actually a human whose spirit has been corrupted, either as a result of greed or eating human flesh, or being trained by another Wendigo. Their bodies rot and become emaciated, but depending on the region or the specific story there may or may not be antlers. They feast on human flesh (so not herbivores) and turn other humans into Wendigos, so they are essentially a native American vampire. Definitely one of my favorite monsters, loved your rendition of it! Keep up the great work!

I would like to see him do a human wendigo. I like to think that a human wendigo turned a mouse into a wendigo kind of like a zombie dog and that's why it's a herbivore.

yikes yall. unless you're part of the Indigenous culture this comes from, you honestly shouldn't be talking about it. It's not a cryptid or some horror monster like a vampire -- it's a spirit whose story is deeply sacred and it's considered disrespectful (and in some traditions actually dangerous) to even speak about it or say its name. Definitely recommend refraining from talking about it like this. jsyk

The vibe I get from this isnt fear. Especially with the music choice the vibe I get is of a person who is revisiting an old friend who happens to be a Wendigo. Whether, the man knows who it is, or suspects it to be someone he once knew. They are looking at each other with a sense of understanding. 7:44 Another amazing build!

Leaves crushed underfoot as the man walked, the sound mingling with the natural noises of the surrounding forest. It was cold, the man's breath fogging the air whenever his exhaled, but he was not bothered by it. He stepped over a decaying log, the lantern clutched in his hand swaying, the old metal creaking at the movement. The flame housed inside flickered, its light more then enough to show the man his surroundings. He really should be asleep at the moment, he knew, huddled under the covers and cuddling up to his wife as they both slept, not wondering the forest in the dead of night. But here he was, doing just that. On any other night, he would have indeed been asleep, but something stirred within him at supper hours ago, something that wasnt his dinner. He had tried to ignore the feeling in his gut, but in the end he had failed. Call him crazy for it, he didn't care. Whatever this urge was leading him to, he knew it was important. The trees began to thin, and the sound of slow flowing water reached the man's ears. Mere moments later, he was standing at the rivers bed, barely a metre from yeah the water licked at the river bed. He stood there for a moment, wondering why on earth this gut feeling had lead him to the river. Suddenly this midnight stoll seemed so stuipd. Blast, he must be going mad, listening to his gut without thought. With a sound somewhere between and groan and sigh, the man turned to leave. But just as he had turned his back to the river, he heard a noise. A strange huff filled the air, and the man froze. That sound, as crazy and stuipd it may seem, he knew it. He'd heard it before, years ago, when he was still in his prime. But it couldn't be, could it? Surely not. The man slowly turned to face the river once more, his lantern raised. And there, illuminated by the orange-yellow glow of his lantern, stood a beast who towered over him by many feet, the face of a moose pointed towards him, small pieces of grass and other thing dangling from its antlers. It was a terrifying sight, truly. Yet the man felt no fear. Instead, in its place he felt familiarity build up in his chest. So, this is what that urge was leading him towards. The two stared at each other, neither making a move or sound. That is, until the man spoke. "Hello, old friend. It's been a while." That night, up until the sun peaked out from the horizon, the man and beast spoke for the first time in over a decade, sharing a long waited catch up with each other. (Wow, didn't expect to watch this video and end up writing this little thing. But, I did. So... here, I guess.(yes, this is inspired by the comments saying how this scene sas giving off the aura of two friends meaning again))

I feel like this man has a unique relationship with the Wendigo. Like, as a child, he got to thinking it was his friend. The beast protected him, in a way. Scaring off the bullies that tormented the man as a child. Now, in his older age, he protects the beast from being hunted. But is torn as he knows the Wendigo hunts those who trespass on his shoreline. Yet, he can't bear the thought of turning his back on this creature he's known most of his life.

I've just come across this series of builds and man it's making me want a game set in this world. Maybe something survival-y or monster hunter-y where you're hunting these wild monsters in the Imaginary West, or trying to develop and defend a frontier town...

Man, your talent is absolutely unmatched!! I’ve been binging your videos and you have an amazing ability to tell a story with just a little slice of the world. Not to mention your sense of humor is perfectly dry! Now, back to my binging!! Can’t wait to see what else you create

The Black 3.0 really sells the effort you put in to the coloring details and allow them all to shine spectacularly. Thank you for sharing you hobby with us!

That looks amazing! I also like how you talk us through your process instead of the more common music only (no errors) stuff of others.
