Lyrics:
Paper bags and plastic hearts
All are belongings in shopping carts
It's goodbye
But we got one more night
Let's get drunk and ride around
And make peace with an empty town
We can make it right
Throw it away
Forget yesterday
We'll make the great escape
We won't hear a word they say
They don't know us anyway
Watch it burn
Let it die
Cause we are finally free tonight
Tonight will change our lives
It's so good to be by your side
We'll cry
We won't give up the fight
We'll scream loud at the top of our lungs
And they'll think it's just cause we're young
And we'll feel so alive

This era was the greatest time to be alive. I feel so grateful to have been a teenager then. This song will never stop making me feel young and carefree everytime I listen. I’m from the Philppines and I had the honor of hearing these guys live when they came to my hometown very recently for their World Tour and I’m SO HAPPY to say that they still sound just as amazing as they did back then. But what saddens me is that the current generation of Philippinen concert goers are just super different compared to back then. Instead of just living the moment and enjoying the music, most of them had their phones out to take tik toks, reels, what have you. I was so glad that they stopped the song during the chorus and told everyon to just PUT YOUR PHONES AWAY. People should just enjoy concerts for what it’s supposed to be: a time to enjoy your favorite artist and rock out to their music. Once everyone just put down their phones and just started dancing and screaming to the performance, it was MAGICAL. I’m sad that it took the band to actually TELL them to STOP, but at least it happened and the concert became infinitely better. To future concert goers both in and out of the Philippines, please, please just LIVE THE MOMENT AND ENJOY.

this is happening in America too and everywhere with phones. its terrible. cant people just be in the moment?? i understand maybe a few seconds but what are you even gonna do with that ? brag on insta reels while 40 other people have their phones out doing the same thing?? like no ones gonna watch that recording for fun, taken with a shitty phone microphone Edit: ok so maybe i don't understand a few seconds then xD. you will enjoy it more without your phone. In fact just take all your photos before the band starts playing and brag then! At least it wouldn't disturb the main course

Paper bags and plastic hearts All our belongings in shopping carts It's goodbye, but we got one more night Let's get drunk and ride around And make peace with an empty town We can make it right Throw it away, forget yesterday We'll make the great escape And we won't hear a word they say They don't know us anyway Watch it burn, let it die 'Cause we are finally free, tonight Tonight will change our lives It's so good to be by your side We'll cry, but we won't give up the fight We'll scream loud at the top of our lungs And they'll think it's just 'cause we're young But we'll feel so alive Throw it away, forget yesterday We'll make the great escape And we won't hear a word they say They don't know us anyway Watch it burn, let it die 'Cause we are finally free, tonight All of the wasted time, the Hours that we've left behind, the Answers that we'll never find They don't mean a thing, tonight Throw it away, forget yesterday We'll make the great escape We won't hear a word they say They don't know us anyway Throw it away, forget yesterday We'll make the great escape And we won't hear a word they say They don't know us anyway Throw it away, forget yesterday We'll make the great escape And we won't hear a word they say They don't know us anyway Watch it burn, let it die 'Cause we are finally free, tonight!

I'm finding this song for the first time at 18. I love it, but at the same time it makes me so sad because I know this song is about something I'll never get to experience. My teenage life has been full of fear, sadness, and loneliness. I've never had friends to share my life with or to do crazy things with. I've never even had friends I could just laugh with. Any friends I've ever had found it all too easy to leave me. I'm nothing to anyone. And that becomes way too obvious when I see what a teenagers life if supposed to look like. I wish I could have had something life this while I had the time. I have too go to college soon, and nothing is going to get any easier there.

Not sure I can speak for everyone when I say this. The generation that listened to this weren't apart of the popular group in school. I'm 23, and I can confidently tell you any friends that will find it that easy to leave you weren't really your friends. I grew up poor and well mannered and was treated like dirt most of the time because of it. Most people will have several friends, but those "friends" do nothing but talk bad about you behind your back. Be picky when it comes to letting people into your life, it's not a bad thing! You may not be everyone else cup of tea but that doesn't mean you aren't someone's!

Being alone is ok, enjoy while you can. Life sucks and you just have to accept it, do not self-pity. Don't rest your happiness from external source, you can't push people around you to be with you and make friends. You are responsible for what is happening to you right now, 100%. Start to think of the most important persons in your life right now, value good relationship with them, communicate. Be humble. I know you will meet a true friend at some in life.

Thank you for coming to Cebu, Philippines last October 2022. Your show was so great. Im in my 30s now but I felt like I was 15 during that night. Martin requested the crowd to stop recording with their phones for their last song and just jam along, and then everyone cooperated and was jumping and singing their hearts out to this song... everything was so nostalgic and beautiful ...for me, it was not just a concert, it was a temporary relief being an adult and living shortly the life of a teenager once more .. I'm so glad that I bought that concert ticket. I hope you come back soon , we love you BLG!

@@seadav0183 < the real comment right there. People always say "things were so much simpler back in ____" and the response is: well of course. You were younger or had fewer responsibilities, plus, your brain fuzzes it all out like a blur filter, so things look softer and simpler - you forget the tiny irks in each day or the small anxieties. Sure, you remember some of the bad times, but nostalgia has a way of painting over memories with a broad brush.
