Join Matt and he meets up with Nate from GoGoGoodwins for a night out in the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest. When their wives let them "go out" for the night, they choose a remote camp in the middle of "no-where" during the Wisconsin winter.
Thanks for watching Frey's On The Side where Adventure is Served.

Love that you make rekindling the fire in the morning a priority, everyone that gets up after you appreciate it!

Ah yes! Some things are nice to have done even before you wake up. The camp fire and coffee being my favorites.

Honestly, it was awesome and fortunately we live close to despaired camp that these quick over nighters are perfect to take a break from the busy world. How have y’all been? Any good content I should be getting caught up on?

Anytime a winch starts a camp trip, that's a good camp trip and you're in the right place. Running back for the camera! lol. Facts.

Right! Winter camping definitely brings it challenges in several ways. Maybe I have a few screws loose, but I absolutely love winter camping. I don’t mind colder temps, but when it’s around 30 during the day is really pleasant. …running around for the “shot” is always fun. Lol.

You aren’t having fun if someone is not getting stuck! Nice video!

Haha… it wasn’t all that bad honestly. The older I get, the more I love winter and camping in the snow.

Not sure why, but at those sites the other entrance you used is always easier to get in when snowy. Weird that way there.
@FreysOnTheSide

Perhaps it’s because the one entrance is much lower than than the main road elevation, which allows for more snowdrift and plow build up. Either way, we were both glad we could get back to camp.

Hey I've never gone dispersed camping, how do you know where you can and can't stay?
@FreysOnTheSide
@FreysOnTheSide 6 ай бұрын
That's both a simple and complex answer. The simple answer is places like National Forest and BLM land are considered public and you can camp at this location. The complex answer is you need to be familiar with the area you are exploring, the camping restrictions, fire restrictions, season road closure etc. My best recommendation, is join a local FB Overlanding/camping group and ask the question and how one can tap into the resources used.

Ah yes. Good eye. I am certainly spoiled having the torch on hand, but love working a fire from a spark. Certainly pushed the easy button on this one.
