Its always getting portrayed like we can just chill & do nothing when menstruating but the reality looks different! boys/men should also know that most of the time girls/women have to function and are expected to proceed their day like nothing is wrong and they aren’t in pain - you have to perform. Most women will have to go to school and aren’t allowed to stay home 5 days every month and they can’t miss so much or they have to much to catch up and have to go in order to not fail there exams (especially in the higher classes) And as a woman you cannot just miss from work so much every month or you get fired, you have to perform like always and nobody has empathy for you (and you aren’t supposed to ever mention that to anyone bc it’s a tabu topic) .. if you are a mom you also have to take care of your kids no matter how you feel! - girls & women cannot just stay in bed & watch their comfort show except your period falls on a weekend but it’s usually lasts longer than that so you’ll have it under the week too👌

As a brother who has to take care of three sisters i think i can say that this is for the extremely privileged women who don’t deal with much pain and has the energy to even set all that up

I am a 63 year old woman, and I'm finally going to say it. I honestly think all the focus on ourselves as women in the name of self care is ridiculous. Women have become entitled, weak, and narcissist. So many don't take responsibility for their actions, and therefore create their own stress when their actions result in adversity. These traits are resulting in the neuroses and mental health issues that are causing so many people to seek counseling. Here's a thought: stop focusing on your own wants and needs so much. Expand your "self care" attitude to your family, friends, neighbors, and co-workers. Stop thinking you have to treat yourself to extravagance to feel good. Gratitude should be spoken outloud to those whom you have been helped by, and to your creator in a private conversation. And I mean God. For what reason is everyone keeping a journal? The definition of gratitude is a strong feeling of appreciation to someone or something for what the person has done to help you. What good does it do to express it privately on a page? When you feel it, say it, and express it in the way you live. Your gratitude does nothing for anyone between pages of a book. I realize this is going to be met with disdain, but it's time narcissistic behaviors everyone is settling into get called out for what they are. It's time to stop. Just stop. Want to feel good? Feel peace? Talk to God daily. Be giving and forgiving to others. That being said, I do enjoy a nice bath. But it takes less than a minute to put some bubbles in a bath, light a candle and relax. No big production is needed. This over-the top self-indulgence is really unnecessary to feel contentment. And when I had periods, agree with so many commenting here, that this really isn't a realistic approach to dealing with that. Strawberries with chocolate would have done nothing to relieve the symptoms.

And hot water can also increase dizziness, which in some cases is accompanied by severe pain syndrome. Of course, you can take a bath during menstruation, but it is not recommended, and if you are going to do it, then do it for your own health in the last days of the menstrual cycle......

For those of you criticizing how realistic this video is because you don't do this when you're on your period, consider this: How each girl individually copes with it, nurses it, or accommodates her period will be different. Does every girl do this? Probably not. But some do. And some girls just binge eat snacks and take advil for the pain. And some girls are in too much pain to do anything but exist. And some girls lay in bed watching comfort shows/movies with a heating pad over their pelvis.... and when we're not at home doing these things, ALL OF US are out in the world, like the bad asses we are, at work- working through the pain and discomfort, studying through it, attending school, playing sports, and raising children through it. But the point of this video and saying that "boys will never understand" is that no one other than a girl can understand what its like. No one other than a girl will understand how personal each girls coping method/ritual while on their period is.

If you're a guy seeing this, no periods aren't this chill or aesthetic. It's basically you getting stabbed in the butt at times, feeling your uterus muscles cramp vigorously, lower back pain, excruciating pain of your legs/thighs if you even move it a little bit, the sensation of vomiting, constipation, diarrhea, fever, body pain, stomach ache all at the same time. I am not overhyping this or being dramatic with this. This is realistic. All these symptoms attack you at the same time. Happens at the same time. Same time. And it ends with you fainting. Also to mention the pain differs for each person.

Had to wash the tub and stay in it burning hot when I had periods, but I had a disorder I think. Periods hurt so bad I would cry and my face would turn red - my face never gets red, I’m dark skinned also. I couldn’t think or do anything and it felt like someone let loose sharp nailed animals in my uterus. Sitting in a hot bath helped make the pain become slightly more tolerable, but even just slightly more tolerable meant the world when you’re in that much pain. You’ll do anything to make it a little tiny bit better.

As a girl who is currently on my period I have zero energy to do all this. I just buy a KitKat and some jellybeans, while curling up in a ball and watching kids movies that take me back to simpler times. Occasionally I have the mental capacity to buy some cherry coke but this month… naw I just bought a bag of jellybeans
