I bought one of these for my father and he carries it with him everywhere. A great alternative to a Mora Companion. Which the leather sheath fits a Mora Companion perfectly. I do recommend everyone who uses these knives to go ahead and take the scales off and put some loctite on the screws, they will loosen up on you if you baton decent pieces of wood. They may have started adding loctite to their newer models but mine have not.

I've found BPS knives to be nothing but fabulous. My BPS Adventurer is my go to Bushcraft knife. I don't believe anyone needs to spend more than 50 dollars for an excellent knife. I paid just under 40 dollars for my Adventurer and that included a small fero rod that has it's own spot on the outstanding sheath that comes with the knife.

I have both knives and I will say that the Mora Clipper has a much thinner blade stock and with no ricasso (sharpening may be a bit more difficult). The index finger guard is slightly less pronounced on the BPS. Both knives feel amazing in the hand but the Mora is definately more grippy. To me the BPS is more balanced with it's full tang (though it definitely weighs more). I love both knives but would pick the BPS for personal preferences over the Mora. I have 6 of the Adventurers. I believe i bought them all 2 at a time. One of them i had to make a minor adjustment to the scales. On another one, the scales were about 3/16th small. I contacted BPS and explained the issue. They said there was a problem with some of the scales drying out and shrinking. Within a week I had a new set from them that fit perfectly. Any company can have an issue, but the way they handle it is the true test of their merit. I did not hesitate to order the next two knives.

New subscriber here. I have three BPS knives, I bought them as just blanks from amazon. I like to make my own handle scales and sheaths. All three that I have seem to be decent steel. I just ordered one of these BS3's. I will discard the handles and do my own. For those that have "mis-aligned" handle-to-tang, a few minutes in your shop with a file, a small block of wood to wrap some sandpaper around, and just work with it to get a perfect fit.

I believe in fate. I have a few BPS knives and they are excellent. I have been looking at this model for the last few months. Your video just came up and something said to me today is the day I have to order it. So I paused your video, went to Amazon and there was a double discount. So I pressed the little button thingy and it should be here soon. So now I'm back watching the rest of your video. I know it looks like a a mora knife but there is something about wooden handles and leather sheaths that beat plastic. For the price and what you're getting I don't mind doing a little bit of work because even if the spine was very very sharp sooner or later you would have to resharpen it. These little things don't bother me. I'm retired Carpenter so we're always fixing our tools. Also I don't really need it for wood processing just cutting up other stuff.

Take the knife apart and clean the tang with rubbing alcohol. Epoxy the handles on while tightening the handle screws back up. Of course ensure perfect scale alignment. Wipe off any excess epoxy that oozes out. This will prevent any future movement of the scales plus it will also prevent moisture from getting under the wood. Adding a few coats of Tung oil while sanding between coats with super fine steel wool, with improve the looks and water resistance of the wooden scales.

I HAVE THREE BPS KNIVES AND HAVE MODIFIED EACH BY SOAKING THE SCALES IN BOILED LINSEED OIL, ADDING RED G10 LINERS AND SWAPPING OUT THE BOLTS FOR BRASS ONES, THEY PERFORM LIKE A KNIFE COSTING TWICE AS MUCH

I have several BPS knives, and I am impressed with their quality and performance. I have noted that a couple of them are "clones", or rather, interpretations of other popular knives, the Mora Companion and Condor Bushlore. In some aspects, I think the BPS versions are better than the originals.

Mark, you might want to correct the knife weight in your comments above. It's 140 grams, not 40 grams. Long time viewer - I enjoy all your videos.

Great review. I'd love to see how you work on the spine to get better scraping action. I've been told by other manufacturers not to sharpen the spine. That didn't make sense to me, because the spine definitely gets dull with a lot of use.
