BR 99 6001 LGB ESU Loksound XL - First testrun - Many features!

This is the very first test run of the LGB 2080D BR 99 6001. Some effects and timings need to be tweaked. (like the acceleration time)
The decoder that was used is the ESU Loksound XL with integrated powerpack. The smoke unit is the Digital Smoke Unit of Massoth.

Awesome Maxim. You have done done a fantastic job on the loco and the layout is sublime. I have just picked up an old 2080D and planning to do the same. Like you I use the Loksound XL and have used the round boiler Massoth in the past but thinking of the new ESU dual pulsed smoker for this project. I have never got the cylinder steam to work on the Massoth - I think my Loksound sound file may need some work. Keen to see how much room there is inside once the loco arrives.

A question for you Maxim. Are the lights above the loco wheels intended to be prototypical? I have not seen them on locos before.

Yes they are! But in reality they were only used to do maintenance. They wouldn't be used during a ride. But it's wonderful to see the wheels of the model turning at night, so I keep them on.

Hello, I just found your video today and I wanted to ask where did you put the speaker? I have a LGB 65000 European sound module I want to install in my 2080D. I saw another video where the gentleman upgraded the speaker on his LGB 65001 American Steam module installed in his LGB Mogul with a Massoth 70mm 8 ohm speaker. I'm going to try the same thing on my 2080D and if it works I'm going to do the same thing to my to my 2085D plus adding a new pulsed smoke generator from Massoth to both. Thanks for posting.

Hi Frank. I placed the speaker (FRS 5 Visaton, same for the 2085D) vertical just behind the pulsed smoke generator. It's not ideal, but it was the only option to keep the weight as it is. Watch the making of here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rb-qbLVkvpy7gXU.html
