BR50 steps outside

On May 29th, Stefan invited to 'Open Garden' for running trains on his new garden layout and for having a good time with new and old friends.
I brought my BR50 and the string of open freight cars. Amazing how a train that seems so large indoors can seem so small on a garden layout.
The locomotive performed like a champ all day long. The unfinished guard's van made some nasty squealing in many scenes, as I have not yet greased the bearings. I've had to do some heavy sound filtering before editing the video, but I don't think it hurt the rest of the video sound too much.
Sound filtering was done using the free program Audacity.
The video is rather long, and most of the scenes are not cut very hard. This is to give a better impression of the gorgeous layout.
So grab a cold one, sit back and enjoy.

This is probably the most beautiful movie in this category. Realistic layout of tracks and a very long composition of cars and a great battle of the locomotive with a bow and a hill :)

Holy cow... Breathtaking piece of work! Question: smoke exhalation and sound are perfectly synchronized. How did you manage that? Printed boards? Thanks for advising.

Thanks :-) Smoke and sound are factory installed: km-1.de/html/br_50.html Magnets on an axle are triggering a hall-sensor connected to the DCC decoder. The BR50 has an ESU LokSound XL 3.5 decoder. The features are pretty much standard.

Very clever. Makes sense. I'm not much into toys, but I have always loved them anyway, hence my ignorant question. Thanks for the answer. How's the smoke created? How long would it last in a single locomotive, admitting that it was to run until it was dry?

Special smoke fluid (oily substance) which is heated and blown out with a fan. Time depends heavily on the smoke generator used, but I mostly get at least 20 mins on a run, making sure I don't overfill the tank, which could damage the electronics.

@@SteamPower4ever really really nice! The smoke is one of the best I can find in the net. May I ask you which smoke generator you are using? Maybe two units, one for the main smoke an one for the cylinders??? Great video thou!
