As a vet coming home from war. he was super happy to be home. When you are away in war, you can't even comprehend coming home. This is sureal for him even behing home from the horrors of war he experienced. While this was very special for him to come home to his love that he did expect to be there 100% for him. The face you saw and the head going down wasn't something he expected, but a reaction. He was more devistated than mad. Anger hadn't even came into his mind at that point. The idea that probably she was his reason for coming back, pushing on during war instead of giving up. The hurt was 100% worse that anger in this situation. Trust me, I know. They had to have had some great military advisement on this video.

When he gets home and walks upstairs I interpreted his emotions as PTSD. He was already so damaged he was just going through the motions and he saw her with another man, he couldn’t take anymore trauma and just walked out. Your take was very interesting!

I always interpreted the video as he is very excited to see his wife again. He is pensive on the bus because he’s having flashbacks of war and maybe a little nerves in seeing his wife after so long. Also, the video is showing her ALMOST catching up to him. She’s never at the bars the exact moments he was. It was showing near-misses. She drives through the alleys just moments after he has walked down it. She drives by just a few seconds after he collapses drunk behind a car. Goes into the bar just after he’s been kicked out, etc. That’s the way I see it.

'Actions have consequences...' I'd like to add, 'Alcohol is NOT the answer'. It might make you feel good and forget for a while, but the problem is still there after the drinking is done. GET HELP PLEASE!!! Talk to a family member, a friend, a therapist, a support group, a clergyman, SOMEONE! THERE IS HELP OUT THERE...FIND IT!!! You are worth it! 🥰🥰🥰🥰 I LOVE this song (karaoke go-to, and yes, I sing both parts 😉). Great reaction!!

All because "She couldn't wait to start a family." Great vocals. The problem is that if they couldn't forgive each other in life, they aren't going to do it after, nor will they get rid of their addiction, they just won't be able to feed it. Always craving for the rest of eternity.

Brad..of course he was Exited. you can see that as he enter the house. But as you could tell from the start of the video, the war left him with painful memories. This is strong video with Great acting from both. You feel the impact and all he had to through in the war. And then the regret and suffering by being apart, from both of them. It is just a great story and acting.

At the time that this was set, letters were all the communication that was available and it was unreliable at best. Maybe she hadn't heard from him and thought that he wasn't coming back. She could not forgive herself for destroying him and their relationship.

This is WW2 nothing like today, nobody knew anything about anything, a letter if it could be written and received, a telegram for the dead and missing and that was hit and miss. Thousands died and most stayed where they fell, no coming home for a funeral then. Gone for 4 to 5 years not months, no leave, this could be understood, she didn't know whether he was dead or alive and certainly not that he was coming home. Nowadays there's no excuse, but then yes. Then it was compulsory, no joining up voluntarily with pay, you went, there was no getting out of it...

My thoughts of the afterlife. If you believe in an eternal paradise after death, how do you reconcile the fact that you still fear death and mourn the loss loved ones? What is 70 to 100 years compared to eternity? Do you remember what it was like before you were born? No you do not, because you know for a fact on an unconscious level that death is the end of your existence.

This song is so heart-ripping and sad. It will always hold up over time because people will and do horrifically drink themselves to death, especially in the U.S. where we collectively have a drinking problem. So sad. I've known two people who did exactly that, drank so much over time that it killed them.

I watched the video just now, before coming back to your reaction. I noticed something. In the photo where she’s holding him, he’s holding tighter than she is and she looks emotionless. Like she doesn’t really love him as much as he loves her.

This is how Satan deceives people with these happy after death scenes, when in reality, if their lives are that messed up, they most likely didn't have a relationship with Jesus that would get them into that happy afterlife. They went from a life of hell on Earth to the real thing. You are correct, this is a powerful song! P.S. Congratulations and good luck on the Dove Award nomination!

Boy, that's a lot of assumptions about people that are "that messed up." I believe Jesus' primary message was one of forgiveness and compassion. I recommend we all be like Jesus.

The fact that Nashville pushed music like this aside for the dog crap it is pumping out now is unforgivable.
