Ive played goal since I was 8 years old and hung my skates up 3 years ago because the pain in my hips stopped me. Im getting around on a cane and get 2 new hips this June cant wait to make this pain stop. I asked my surgeon if ill ever play goal again he replied NO the joints aren't set up for the action I make them perform. Breaks my heart after all these years but ill play it by ear. Im 58 now but will always be a goalie at heart and any one out there that plays goal making last second saves ect you know how much it hurts ti be told you cant play goal again. Most importantly is for me to walk without pain.

One thing that improved my game was getting my mind into it. I learned by visualizing the shots and saves I may face. I learned this through karate and wished I had started karate 10 years earlier than I did. As below my hips are bone on bone and cant even skate. I have so much respect for the guys that make it to the NHL there are a lot of good guys that never made the big leagues.

He still does the same warm ups up to this day... that's great!

This kid was a godsend. Remember we came from having Kolzig for years, we were spoiled. We traded Varlamov and kept Michal Neuvirth. I don’t know who’s grandson Michal Neurvith was but he hung around foreverrrrrr. We were lucky Holtby turned out to be so good.

I would of been a pro netminder today, hadnt i quit. But Im not mad about that. I sure as hell dont miss the pressure you have on you as a goaltender, both from yourself and the club. I will always remember the day I quit. I had a team meeting that night, and I was so mentally exhausted I could barely get out of bed. So I laid there for some time, thinking about whether or not I was willing to give up my future as a pro athlete. After a long time I decided to skip that meeting and quit. The feeling I got afterwards was like removing a cinder block from my chest, or like letting go of a heavy barbell hindering your breathing. I remember that I slept like a child that night.
