Oh wow they're already the size of a standard light layer.

I have two brahma chickens myself, they originally came from my school when we had a farm project...... that went awfull. We did not plan where to put the hens house, we did not have a large open area away from the youngest kids from 6 to 11 years of age. Basically a mess, witch meant that we had them inside all of spring. when summer came, all the chickens and roosters had moved to our principal’s farm 4 miles away... well most of them, the others that had no place where killed so the others could live, exept for three. Those two where Trine, Maya and Turid... who was a rooster. Trine and maya where two brahma hens that where born in the school, they where friended by so many of the student’s, they had to come back. Turid witch was a, uh... topped holender, is what they’re called in norwegian. He had a a beak miss placement, so he had to get wet food combined with as much protein as possible. He was during the summer taken care of by a student named hedda who had lots of other chickens there (oh that brings back so many old memories) not for long though, cause a badger had broken in during night and killed all of them, though Turid survived witch was why he had to come back, also he would be the most challenging chick to keep fed, therefor it was a perfect lesson! Though we didnt have a big house for them, and there was no roof, therefor if they wanted to be outside, a student had to be outside with them. I was the guy who took care of them the most cause the students started to care less, and therefor it became my responsibility. I groo near them, and we became close friends, especially Turid. He was really special and sweet! Then the late of autumn came and it was getting cold, there was no electricity and no way of heating up, so somone had to take them for the winter. So i did, and my parents agreed, so we bought them a hens house for 4, with electricity and warmth, with a little cage with a roof, so they could be outside without worrying, we even secured it for badgers and wild life. More time went past and each day after school i came home, took turid inside to the bathroom to give him hugs, cuddles, food and water. Though sadly, 3 months later, he didnt act like himself. I could tell he didn’t feel motivated to keep on trying with his disability, so we tried to give him more attention and it worked for a while, but at the end of December, he stared more into his own reflection in the bathroom mirror, then he got more tired, and had issues flying up to the edge of the bathroom table where the mirror was. And the 5 of January he passed away cause of heart conditions. Trine and Maya spare still alive, we got a new rooster called ludvig who is the nicest rooster you will ever meet in your life. They still look around after Turid when i bring them to the bathroom he used to be in, even 2 years later to this day. And i hear him sometimes giving me that strange as cluck that made me giggle. What i learned was that we should take care of the disabled, not just in our society, but in the animal life society, and end the disbicable industrial farms that would immediately slaughter the disabled once. Thats the story of Turid and my brahma chickens, and partley ludvig.
