I love Brahma's. I am looking forward to getting some next year after we get set up for them. Where did you get yours? I know they are a large breed but is the size of your Brahma's typical for the breed? they are so beautiful!

You have such nice housing!How high a roost do you use for your birds?

Absolutely beautiful. Feel bad for that useless step lathe they all seem afraid off. May as well take it off
@DylansBrahmaChickenFarm6 жыл бұрын
Thank you ;-) I must admit that this video was made when the young brahmas were put into these coops a few days before. They stayed in a bigger place together for several weeks. So first time out in these coops made them a bit 'afraid' at that time. I can assure you that they definitely use it now :-) Some of them even use step by step to get into their coops in the evening.

why not add some perches? I use fallen tree limbs or 2 by 2s and big bricks out in the run too!! they really need that in their lives! You have beautiful birds...coops to small but Im sure you will take care of that!

I know what you mean and actually this video was made at the wrong time. The young brahmas were put outside in these coops just a couple of days before and were selected for the expositions. Not more than 1 month later they were put in bigger coops and separated from the roosters. If you look at our other videos you will see that we never put more than 3 hens + 1 rooster in these coops for the rest of the year ;-)

Do you have roosts for them?
@DylansBrahmaChickenFarm4 жыл бұрын
They were separated 2 weeks afterwards and first all the hens together and the roosters. After a few months 1 rooster with 3 hens

At what age you mix your hens to the roosters ?
@DylansBrahmaChickenFarm2 жыл бұрын
depends if they were put together for breeding program or not. Otherwise after 6 months

How do you keep the safe from Hawks ?
@DylansBrahmaChickenFarm5 жыл бұрын
Luckily ... so far (and touching wood) we've never had hawks around
@DeeDaDee420 Жыл бұрын
So…I am a new Brahma owner, but have been a backyard chicken mom for over 3 years. My understanding of hawks is that they swoop down and snatch a full grown chicken with their talons mid flight and carry it away. What I’ve read about hawks and Brahmas is that hawks will not typically target a full grown Brahma due to its large size (similar to a Turkey). That being said, I’ve always kept my birds in a covered run with hardware cloth because I have silkies and smaller birds as well, and a chicken friendly german shepherd for free ranging to keep predators at bay :). Beautiful Brahmas amd farm, ❤

What do you use for coop bedding that keeps your birds feet in such nice condition?
